The past couple of months have also seen Ruby deal with being reunited with her estranged family. After Ruby’s mum Helen died, daughter Steph turned up, who hadn’t seen her parents in over 10 years. It was a tough reunion, though mother and daughter appear to be working through their issues.
Ruby’s dad Anthony then arrived to a hostile reception from his daughter – who he hadn’t seen in 30 years.
Anthony announced that he had prostate cancer, but Ruby is still apprehensive about getting to know him. An upcoming flashback episode will reveal what happened to Ruby during her teenage years – and might go some way to explaining why she feels the need to drink.
Fans have noticed that Ruby often has a drink in her hand (Credit: ITV)
Does Ruby have a drink problem?
Fans have noticed that whenever Ruby is stressed – which is a lot – she reaches for the alcohol. And lately, she never seems to be without a glass of wine.
Taking to X, one fan wrote: “Ruby drinks all day. Ruby gets out of bed and open a bottle of wine.” Another fan joked: “I want to live with Ruby. Wine on tap.”
A third viewer said: “Jeez, does all Ruby do all day every day is drink and not do any hard graft?!” While another said at the start of a recent episode: “Hoorahhh Ruby has already opened a bottle.”
Others believe a drink problem is on the cards for Ruby, with one viewer saying: “Is Ruby an alcoholic? She’s always drinking?”Â
Could they be right and will Emmerdale explore a drink problem for Ruby?

Lately Ruby Fox-Miligan has been acting strangely in Emmerdale as her daughter Steph and father Anthony come back into her life. Speculation has been rife that Ruby was abused by her dad. But a new Emmerdale theory gives a different contender for Steph’s biological father – and it’s not Caleb or Anthony.
Steph brought Anthony to the village in an attempt at getting him and Ruby to reconcile, but it was very clear from Ruby’s reaction that was going to be harder than anticipated.
Her reaction to him showing up in the village led to other reckless behaviour – sleeping with Cain Dingle.
Ruby struggles to forgive Anthony – is there more to it? (Credit: ITV)
Emmerdale Ruby’s relationship with Anthony
Ruby explained her reasoning for hating her father. When she was pregnant he tried to force her to get a termination, and then kicked her out of the house.
That alone gives Ruby a good enough reason for wanting him to stay away, but it’s clear Steph isn’t ready to give up.
The news also shocks Ruby, as she struggles to know how to process everything. But fans recently guessed there was a more sinister twist waiting to come out about Ruby and her father.
They theorised that Ruby had been abused by Anthony, and that he is Steph’s real dad. However, as new spoilers have been released, many fans are now speculating someone else is Steph’s father – and it’s not Caleb or Anthony.
The flashbacks feature a 16-year-old Ruby, around a year before Steph was born, getting along with a fellow teenager, Rob. Through the flashbacks fans will learn why she insists she can’t remember that day.
Ruby pretends she doesn’t remember her 16th birthday – but flasbacks reveal the truth (Credit: ITV)
Emmerdale theory suggests Rob is the real dad of Steph as Ruby’s past explored
Now, fans are convinced this new character Rob is actually Steph’s dad. And perhaps there is more to come from the story.
On a Reddit thread, fans theorised: “I originally believed that Anthony had physically abused Ruby when pregnant. If the assault theories are true, I don’t understand why he would risk losing Steph by reuniting with Ruby. And I don’t believe she would keep quiet, knowing he could do the same to her.”
Instead, the fan provided a different and new Emmerdale theory.
“I think now we’re supposed to believe that Rob is the biological father of Steph, but the writers may be having us on because that would be obvious.
“Hopefully they’re not just trying to take the focus off Anthony. And I hope Caleb really is the father. But maybe the Foxes saw Rob as ‘better’ than Caleb. Maybe he was rich and they set him up with Ruby. He may have abused her without her parents knowing.”
The theory helps understand why in Emmerdale Ruby tries to get the attention off her 16th birthday, and also why she hates her father so much.
Whatever the reason is, it’s clear there is much more going on than we currently know.
Instead they think it will be Steph, Ruby and Caleb’s daughter, who forces the secret out.
Around the same time as Cain and Ruby, Steph herself had a bunk-up with Emmerdale bad boy Ross Barton. So when Caleb spotted the morning after pill packaging in the rubbish, he just assumed it was hers.
However, we know it was actually Ruby’s. And, as Emmerdale made a point of showing Caleb find the packaging, everyone believes that will have to play into the reveal.
Is Steph pregnant? (Credit: ITV)
Emmerdale theory suggests pregnancy for Steph
One new theory suggests Steph may actually be pregnant with Ross’ baby, and so obviously Caleb will then question what he found – leading to a huge bombshell hitting him and Moira.
The Emmerdale theory was first posted on a Reddit thread, and fans were quick to agree that it made sense.
One commented: “She will at least have a pregnancy scare and this is how Caleb will realise the morning-after pill packaging he found in the trash was not Steph’s.”
Another added: “I can totally see this happening!”
“They also made a point of showing the ‘this never happened’ text that Ruby sent to Cain. Either Caleb or Moira will see it,” a third penned.
Although, while many agreed, another fan suggested an alternative that would also bring another side to Anthony into the mix.
They wrote: “I thought Ruby’s dad would somehow figure out about Ruby and Cain. He could blackmail her about keeping quiet so he could stay in the village.”
It’s that time of the year again. Soaps begin to tease their big winter storylines. But Emmerdale has given fans a glimpse at Christmas, and viewers are terrified.
In a 40 second video posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), all the Emmerdale Christmas lights were on display. The caption simply read: “We love our Village at Christmas!”
While it may have been an innocent post to get everyone in the Christmas spirits, many thought it was hinting at something ominous.
The video showed an empty village, not one person in sight. And as the camera moved throughout, we got to see each building’s Christmas lights up close.
But why did the village need to be empty? Why was there an eerie feeling? Well fans think they were hinting that all may seem peaceful, but that’s not the actual case.

Fans react to Emmerdale Christmas video
Taking to X, fans expressed how they were awaiting something sinister at the end.
One wrote: “Genuinely thought this was going to turn into some kind of horror trailer.”
Another predicted: “Sprinkled with murder, affairs, heartbreak and Christmas cheer.”
“Looks great. But what is the surprise under the tree this year?” a third fan asked.
A viewer wrote: “It looks amazing. But bring on more drama for Christmas!”

Christmas in Emmerdale
Let’s face it, Emmerdale loves to throw in some Christmas tragedies. The festive period seems to be the perfect time for secrets to come out or killers to strike. So it’s safe to assume this year will be no different.
A sneak peek to December in Emmerdale was released as show boss Iain MacLeod told Digital Spy that 2024 will be one of the most “exciting” Christmases in Emmerdale history.
He teased a “huge surprise arrival on Christmas Day”, as well as “some life or death jeopardy.”
There will also be “heartbreaking family drama with plenty of Dingle action”, along with some “classic gothic antics at Home Farm.”
Currently there are so many storylines bubbling away waiting to be popped open. Will Belle finally get the justice she deserves? Does the truth about Cain and Ruby come out? And just who is returning on Christmas Day – Joe?Pete?Robert? So many questions that need answering.
So with that knowledge, it seems the Emmerdale teaser was trying to lure viewers into a false sense of security. But it looks like Christmas in the Dales is not to be missed!
In Emmerdale spoilers for tonight, Pollard is concerned that money is still not showing in his bank account and Liam catches him about to do something reckless.
Last week, Leyla was concerned that Eric might be being scammed. But after Eric spoke to the help centre, he reassured Leyla that all was fine.
However, tonight Eric Pollard is confused that the uplift in cryptocurrency is still not showing on his account. While Brenda is also concerned when she finds a wedding dress she likes but discovers there is no money in her bank account to pay for it.
Eric lies to Brenda and claims that her missing money must just be a technology glitch. Soon, Liam is also worried, when he catches Pollard preparing to be reckless with the shop’s cash. Pollard is determined to place a bet on a horse, but Liam attempts to dissuade him and he blocks Pollard’s exit.
Ruby is shaken (Credit: ITV)
2. Ruby makes a discovery in Emmerdale tonight
During Friday’s episode (November 29), Ruby’s dad Anthony returned and shared with his granddaughter Steph that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and didn’t know how long he had left.
Steph attempted to share the news with her mum, but Ruby wasn’t having any of it and claimed that Anthony was making it up.
However, tonight, Ruby is shaken when she discovers that Anthony is actually telling the truth about his cancer diagnosis. Will this be the start of a reconciliation between the pair?
3. Angelica makes a move
Last week, Tom was finally arrested after he was caught attempting to flee on a ferry. During Friday’s episode he vowed to keep fighting against Belle. He was also eager for his solicitor friend Ollie to get Amelia back on side.
However, while Amelia was adamant that she wanted nothing more to do with Tom, in tonight’s episode Tom’s cousin Angelica attempts to make contact with him in prison. What is she up to?

It’s the festive season in Emmerdale, but there is a distinct lack of good cheer in our Christmas preview because frankly, things look pretty bleak for just about everyone.
With Moira anxiously waiting the results of the biopsy on her tumour, Cain hiding his infidelity and the drama of the Tom and Belle storyline all looming, it doesn’t look like any of the Emmerdale residents are going to have a merry Christmas this year!
In fact, show boss Iain MacLeod has said 2024 will be one of the most “exciting” Christmases in the soap’s history.
He told Digital Spy back in September: “This Christmas, there is a huge surprise arrival on Christmas Day. As well as some life or death jeopardy on Christmas Day – but obviously there will be festive brilliance as we do every year – but I think it is one of the most exciting Christmases that I can remember on Emmerdale this year!”
He continued to promise “incredibly heartbreaking family drama with plenty of Dingle action. There is also some classic gothic antics at Home Farm – some skullduggery!”
So what is happening this festive season? Let’s take a look in our Christmas preview.
WHAT IS GOING ON?! (Credit: ITV)
Kim’s Christmas surprise in Emmerdale!
At Home Farm, Kim’s pulling out all the stops for a Christmas to remember, while Will’s pretending to be loved-up but planning a meeting with Peter. But when Peter delays putting their takedown of Kim into action, saying there’s been a change of circumstance, Will’s annoyed and confused.
He’s even more cross when Peter won’t tell him who the third party is. Who’s pulling the strings? Is it Jamie Tate? Joe Tate? Caleb?! Will we find out over the festive period?
Meanwhile, acting on Peter’s orders, Will suggests to Kim that they renew their vows on Christmas Day and then feels guilty when she gets emotional.
We’re still not convinced everything’s as it seems with this storyline. Is Kim actually in on the whole thing? Will all the Tates return en-masse at Christmas – Joe, Jamie and Jean?! Is Frank really alive? Could Dave Glover rise from the dead? Is it Rose? (Please don’t let it be Rose). Tina Dingle? Lydia?! Frankly nothing would surprise us now!

Bad news for Moira
It’s time for Moira to get her pathology results back but Cain’s nowhere to be found. Poor Moira’s still convinced her cheating, useless husband will show up in time, and makes a last-minute phone call to Cain.
Having stayed away, full of guilt, Cain finally steps up but circumstances conspire against him and he misses the appointment.
When Moira eventually catches up with Cain, she tells him her results were fine. But she admits to a heartbroken Matty that she lied – she needs radiotherapy.
With Cain having let her down again, will Moira realise something’s very wrong with her marriage? Could this be the last Christmas for Coira?
Oh look, Cain’s let Moira down AGAIN (Credit: ITV)
Cain gets arrested!
Cain does have a good reason for missing Moira’s appointment, mind you. As he tries to make it to his wife’s side, he’s stopped by Jai’s badly parked car, and then has an altercation with PC Swirling which ends up with him being arrested.
He’s let off with a caution and heads off to go and get drunk which is where Liam finds him

Will Cain confess in Emmerdale this Christmas?
When Liam drops Cain off at home, Moira’s FUMING! She tells her husband she’d arranged a surprise party for his birthday the next day and he needs to pull himself together.
But Cain’s got one thing on his mind – confession! He wants to tell Moira exactly what he was doing when she was having her operation. Will he spill the beans? It’s definitely shaping up to be a miserable Christmas at Butlers.
The photograph brings back bad memories for Ruby (Credit: ITV)
Ruby flashback
With Ruby struggling with – well, everything really – things aren’t any happier in the Fox-Miligan household. Ruby’s still trying to pretend nothing happened with her and Cain, she’s getting used to Steph being around again, and dealing with memories stirred up by her dad’s arrival.
As Christmas approaches and Anthony starts reminiscing, Steph finds a photo of Ruby on her 16th birthday way back in 1992 – just a year or so before Steph was born. In a special flashback, viewers will see why Ruby’s pretending she doesn’t remember the day and why it makes her so uncomfortable.
We’re guessing whatever the memory is, it’s nothing good, and we reckon raking up the past isn’t going to help the Fox-Miligans look forward to a happy new year.
Ross gives up
And what a surprise, there’s no Christmas cheer for Ross either as he decides it’s time to give up trying to be a dad to Moses and let Mack take over.
Belle has found the strength she needs (Credit: ITV)
Ho ho hope for Belle?
BUT there might be some good news for Belle this Christmas as her domestic abuse ordeal comes to an end. Though before that happens, things get a bit tricky as imprisoned Tom worms his way into niece Angelica’s affections, convincing her he’s been wronged by everyone in the village.
As Jimmy and Nicola fret about their daughter’s support for Tom, are things about to get a whole lot worse for the Kings?
Emmerdale bosses have promised Belle will be in a much happier place by Christmas and with a special episode set for Tom’s trial this December, let’s hope she gets the justice she deserves.
After Iain’s comment that there will be a surprise return on Christmas Day, speculation is rife over who it will be. Many fans think Pete Barton will come home, now his brother Ross is settling in the village again.
Others think Joe Tate, who may or may not be plotting against Kim (could be just wishful thinking) will be back.
Some are hoping (still) for the Robert Sugden comeback they’ve been calling for. Just as John and Aaron are set for a happy Christmas together, could Robert come back to stir up the pot?

However, will Steph agree? And will her relationship with her grandfather come in between them again?
