Spoilers: Samson arrested for assault before he heads to court to learn his fate

Samson Dingle’s future is hanging in the balance, and in Emmerdale spoilers for next week it’s the moment of truth when he goes to court for his plea hearing.

The lad was caught up in a terrible lie after falsely accusing Matty Barton of stabbing him. Matty was sent to prison for a crime he didn’t commit and faced appalling abuse. Now Samson must face punishment for what he did.

Like many Dingles before him, Samson is going to end up behind bars. But the question is, for how long?

Samson faces up to prison in Emmerdale spoilers

Samson has slowly been coming to terms with the fact that he’s going to jail. He’s decided to plead guilty and claims to be accepting of his fate. Cain Dingle has given his nephew a crash course on how to handle himself on the inside. But a light beating from Cain is probably nothing compared to the brutal reality of what awaits.

As the day of the hearing approaches, vengeful Moira Dingle is still baying for Samson’s blood. She’s unable to forgive the dreadful pain he caused Matty and can’t conceal her contempt for the lying teen.

Meanwhile, after weeks of being under his control, Samson finds the courage to stand up to Josh. The confrontation gets heated as Samson finally lets the vile bully know exactly what he thinks of him. But will his act of bravery backfire?

    Samson is arrested

Not long after his face-off with Josh, the police come calling to arrest Samson for assault.

There’s nothing poor Sam and Lydia can do as the lad is cuffed and led away. Moira, on the other hand, is pleased to see justice is being served and watches on with a look of  smug satisfaction.

Cain is convinced his wife is behind the arrest and accuses Moira of grassing Samson up. After all, it would make complete sense given what he did to Matty. But Moira is adamant this isn’t some act of revenge and she didn’t call the cops. Is she actually being honest though?

It’s judgement day for Samson in Emmerdale spoilers

Soon it’s time for Samson to head to court to discover his fate. Back in The Woolpack, Amelia nervously waits for news as she starts to worry for little Esther having her dad locked up.

Perhaps Samson should have spared a thought for his daughter before siding with evil Josh.

After an anxious wait, the pub is silenced when Lydia enters with news of what happened. What sentence has the judge handed down on Samson? Will his stint in clink be short-lived? Or is he looking at a much longer stretch? And what repercussions will it have for the Dingle family?

  • Alice Dingle in Emmerdale: Marriage to Sam, welcoming son Samson and tragic death

Alice Dingle in Emmerdale: Marriage to Sam, welcoming son Samson and tragic death

Alice and Sam Dingle’s love story in Emmerdale was one to remember, but ended tragically when Alice succumbed to cancer in 2006. She sadly died not long after welcoming son Samson, leaving husband Sam heartbroken.

Sam and Samson have remained in Emmerdale ever since, with Sam navigating life as a single parent. Alice definitely changed Sam’s life forever, despite their relationship being cut short.

So, what is Alice Dingle’s tragic story?

    Alice Dingle arrives in Emmerdale

In December 2004, Alice Wilson was introduced to Emmerdale viewers. Following the death of her father, Alice had been living alone on the family farm and was struggling to manage it alone.

Paddy Kirk and his wife Emily paid Alice a visit and were left horrified by how she was living. The couple befriended Alice and she even temporarily moved in with them.

This led to Alice meeting Sam Dingle.

    Alice and Sam

It was pretty much love at first sight for Alice and Sam, with the pair immediately hitting it off. However, Alice was struggling with the farm, prompting her to make plans to move to Norfolk.

Sam was distraught when Alice informed him of her plans to leave Emmerdale. He even thought about taking his own life, though Eric Pollard managed to talk him out of it.

Alice came to visit after she’d auctioned the family farm, and she and Sam shared a kiss. Alice asked him to move to Norfolk with her but he declined her offer as he wanted to stay with his family.

Zak later talked Sam into moving with Alice and the couple left the village together.

    Return to Emmerdale

For months, Alice and Sam lived happily on their chicken farm in Norfolk, sending regular updates to the Dingle family.

One day, Sam suddenly returned to Emmerdale and was acting strangely. Two weeks later, Alice tracked him down. She explained to everyone that she’d told Sam she was pregnant and he’d fled.

Alice understood Sam was scared of becoming a father and the pair managed to get back on track. Sam said he wanted to remain in Emmerdale so the Dingle family could help with the baby, so he and Alice made a permanent return to the village.

    Illness

Things were going well for Alice and Sam, but she soon began feeling ill during her pregnancy. After undergoing tests, she was diagnosed with cancer.

Alice was advised to terminate her pregnancy in order to begin chemotherapy but she refused to get rid of her baby.

    Samson born

Alice declined the advice she’d been given and gave birth to a baby son named Samson prematurely in January 2006. The birth left Alice depressed, with Samson being rushed to intensive care before she had chance to see him.

Alice started undergoing chemotherapy after Samson’s arrival. During her treatment, she and Sam decided to get married.

    Alice’s death in Emmerdale

After several weeks of chemotherapy, Alice’s doctor told her the treatment wasn’t working. Therefore, she stopped having chemotherapy.

A few weeks of pain followed and having decided she wanted to choose when she dies, Alice and Sam agreed she would take her own life.

When the time was right, Alice said tearful goodbyes to her family and Sam gave her an overdose of morphine.

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Sam thumped Cain, Rose snogged Will

Emmerdale tonight echoed the mood of the nation with Cain feeling fragile after drowning his sorrows following England’s defeat in the Euros.

And there wasn’t much cheer elsewhere in the village, as relationships crumbled left, right and centre.

Emmerdale tonight: Sam and Samson’s get-away plan thwarted

Having warned his son he’d have to run away in Friday’s episode, Sam confirmed his escape plans for Samson.

He’d booked a ferry, and would sell Samson’s late mum Alice’s wedding ring so he’d have some funds.

“You’re going away where no one can find you,’ Sam said – just as Lydia approached them.

She was furious to discover their plot and told her husband: “What about Matty? Samson’s just gonna leave the poor boy to rot?”

“Samson comes first. I’m getting him out of here… don’t try to stop me,” Sam bellowed back.

Later, Lydia challenged Samson, warning that running away might just make things worse for him – namely people realising he’d been lying.

“Samson Dingle goes on his hols, can’t be contacted… nothing suspicious there,” she mocked.

In a last ditch attempt to make her stepson do the right thing, she said: “Think about it… do you think you’ll be able to live with yourself, knowing someone else is inside because of what you’ve done?

“The only thing Matty is guilty of is defending himself against you.”

It did the trick as Samson headed to the police station and finally told the truth… Potentially good news for Matty, but a disaster in waiting or Sam and Lydia’s marriage?

Sam saw red, screaming at his wife: “Why the hell did you make him do this? Don’t you realise what’s going to happen to him? He’s going inside.

“I had it sorted, but you couldn’t have that could you?

“I’ll never forgive you for this.”

And Sam appeared ready to burn more bridges as he argued with Cain, who accused him of always being too soft on his son.

Cain then made the mistake of bringing up Alice as he declared “her son’s a deadbeat and her dad let it happen”.

With that, Sam took a swing at him… not many men would be brave – or in Sam’s case stupid – enough to try that!

Rose goes to kiss Will in Emmerdale

Rose a thorn in Will’s side

Meanwhile at Home Farm, Will told Billy he knew that Kim had been covering for him and warned: “In future, do not do stupid stuff.”

“That was good of you, supporting the Missus,” Kim acknowledged.

Will replied: “I admit I’ve been hard on you… you should have put me six foot under.” Er, he does know what happened to her husband, Frank, right?

Later Rose revealed that she’d overheard the conversation and thanked Kim for her protection of Dawn.

And, in her own show of support, she declared: “I’m stopping the booze, I want to be a bit more present for Dawn and the kids.”

“At least the brandy bill will go down,” Kim deadpanned.

Of course, viewers know that Rose is up to no good and she was later on the phone to her mystery person, saying: “I got some Brownie points yesterday but I don’t know.”

Will interrupted the and Rose decided to up her game, telling him softly: “I still can’t believe I’m here sometimes with you, my daughter, my grandchildren.”

Then she planted one on her ex!

“What is wrong with you?” came Will’s response. “I did not encourage that… what was it, one moment of madness?

“You have to understand that I love my wife* and nothing is gonna stand in the way of that.”

*Wife? Or fancy car, big house and designer gear? The jury’s still out on that one, Will!

    Laurel’s moving on

Jai was left feeling hopeful that he and Laurel can move past their issues after her heart attack, as she told him it was time to leave things in the past.

But what she actually meant by ‘things’ was their relationship.

“I think it’s time to tell the kids we’re splitting up,” she declared. Awkward!

  • What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Stupid Samson finally confessed and stupider Sam advised he run away

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Stupid Samson finally confessed and stupider Sam advised he run away

Emmerdale tonight, and it was the morning after too-many-drinks the night before.

Few things on TV are as cringe as actors playing drunk, because most do it tremendously badly – with the exception of Natalie J Robb’s Moira in Emmerdale – and Steve McFadden as EastEnders’ alcoholic Phil.

And in tonight’s trip to the village, viewers were confronted with awkward ‘comedy’ scenes of Mandy and Rhona returning disheveled, stumbling and slurry from a night out on the lash.

The pain continued as they headed back to Paddy’s, and Rhona discovered she’d had a tattoo of a Spice Girl inked on her back… Mandy chirped: “It looks like Posh but from this angle it could be Mel C, whatever she’s got a big nose.”

Why? All so Mandy could work out Rhona isn’t boring after all, it seems.

Samson and Sam – Stupid and Stupider strike again

The actual laugh in Emmerdale tonight came courtesy of Sam, who straight-faced declared, “It’s a good job the police got to her before I did, I can tell you that,” as Samson snivelled about Moira kidnapping and threatening him.

Sam Vs Moira? He’d be weeing in his wellies at the mere thought of her Glasgow kiss.

Meanwhile, Natalie J Robb was pulling at the heartstrings again with her faultless 360 portrayal of Moira as she implored Lydia to accept Samson was lying – and convince him to do the right thing.

“Mother to mother, I know what I’m asking is a lot. But I’ve already buried one child, please don’t let me bury another,” Moira sobbed.

Lydia strained: “Samson is like a son to me and you’re asking me to turn him in.”

But, never knowingly not doing the right thing, she later told her stepson: “I’ve fought your corner every step of the way, supported you, so if there’s something you’re not telling us, say. Now.”

With that, Samson finally cracked and confessed.

As Lydia ran off in horror, telling Samson she’s never felt so disappointed and ashamed of him, the teen turned to his dad for advice.

“Dad, what am I going to do?” Samson whined.

“Run, get away from here, it’s the only way I can help you,” he replied.

Your Dad of the Year trophy’s in the post, Sam.

Who’s kidnapped the real Kim Tate?

While it’s been interesting to see Emmerdale’s iconic Ice Queen melting a little in her autumn years, her backbone is now in danger of full-on crumbling.

She’s allowing stepdaughter Dawn and her prodigal mother to walk all over her – in her own country manor!

Tonight, Rose took advantage of Dawn being annoyed with Kim for ‘bursting the bubble’ – allowing germs into the house – to weasel her way further into her daughter and ex-husband’s affections.

Kim was excluded from Clemmie’s birthday party. In her house.

Her response? “It’s nice to know where one stands.”

This from a woman who faked her own death to avenge her son’s poisoning plot.

Kim needs to have a word with herself, fast. Mellowing we can live with, turning into a melt, we cannot.

    Just friends

Charles told Manpreet that their bunk-up in last night’s episode had been a one-off and if being just friends now would be weird for her, he’d understand.

Her lips said friends was just fine, but her eyes told a different story – suggesting a whole new plot around Mapreet. Will she suddenly turn into a bunny boiling ex? (It’s in the genes, after all.)

  • Sam Hall insists Samson ‘does have morals’ as he comes clean about the stabbing

Sam Hall insists Samson ‘does have morals’ as he comes clean about the stabbing

As Samson Dingle in Emmerdale becomes more and more unlikable thanks to his lies, actor Sam Hall has revealed his alter ego will have a change of heart and attempt to set Matty free.

Currently Matty is locked up after he stabbed Samson. It was an accident, caused by Josh hurling transphobic insults at Matty and then pushing Samson into him. Samson was stabbed by the knife Matty was holding. He has since lied, under Josh’s orders, that Matty hurt him in cold blood.

It’s left the Dingles divided as half of them are standing by Samson, believing his lies, and the other half are desperate to get him to tell the truth.

Samson will finally – finally – have a change of heart next week. But how will Josh react?

Emmerdale spoilers: The truth is out!

Emmerdale spoilers for next week reveal that Samson has been caught out in his fibs by Lydia. She encourages him to go to the police and be honest about what really happened. However his dad Sam is worried about Samson’s future and the trouble lying to the police will get him in and encourages him to do a runner.

With Sam and Lydia poles apart and Sam turning his anger on Cain, a fight breaks out and Sam punches his brother to the floor of the Woolpack.

Samson eventually realises Lydia is right and he needs to tell the truth. But how will this affect his future?

Sam Hall teases the reason Samson tells the truth

Sam Hall who plays Samson has shared the reason behind the character’s U-turn.

Speaking to Entertainment Daily! and other media, Sam shared: “As we’ve seen previously in storylines, he sometimes says the wrong things and gets persuaded fairly easily by people through either fear or fear of the unknown.

“In the end, he always comes out to do the right thing because, from a parent’s point of view, Sam has always taught Samson to do the right thing. And, Lydia has always backed up Sam’s views on coming clean and doing the right thing. So, however wrong Samson does, I feel like he always comes out in the end to do the right thing and reverse what wrong he’s done.”

But why does he choose now, after standing his ground for so long, to come clean? “I think it’s his own conscience, I really do,” Sam explained.

“I do think his morals are very deep down, correct. In the end, it’s himself that thinks ‘look, Matty’s family, this isn’t the right thing to do. We need to do what’s right here.’ I do think it’s him.”

But there’s no telling whether the confession is in time to save Matty who is in prison hell and under threat from violence. Or how Josh will react. And whether Samson himself will evade justice?

James Hooton admits Sam feels ‘betrayed’ by Lydia over Samson lies

Sam and Lydia Dingle have had their fair share of tough times in Emmerdale in recent months. And despite only just having reconciled following her rape hell, fresh heartache is heading their way – all thanks to lying Samson.

Viewers are aware Samson has told the police Matty stabbed him in cold blood, when in reality it was an accident caused by Josh. As Matty languishes in prison, Lydia and Sam have supported Samson in the face of accusations he’s lying.

But when Lydia discovers he is in fact being dishonest, she encourages him to do the right thing and go to the police. However, Sam does not like that plan. He wants his son to do a runner and escape any form of punishment for his lies.

Actors James Hooton and Karen Blick, who plays Sam and Lydia have teased exactly how this conflict will affect Sam and Lydia’s relationship.

    Samson finally comes clean

New Emmerdale spoilers for next week reveal that Lydia interrupts a conversation between Sam and Samson during which they’re planning Samson’s getaway to push her stepson into going to the police.

Samson’s conscience eventually kicks in (no, really, he does have one!) and he confesses everything to the cops to get Matty out of prison.

But Sam is livid at Lydia! Not with Samson for his lies, but with Lydia. Sam blames his wife for ruining his son’s future. Right.

Sam’s also furious with Cain and starts a fight with him, lamping in one in the pub. Cain then does all he can to make sure Samson doesn’t run away again.

    Trouble for Sam and Lydia

Sam and Lydia find their marriage tested once again by the big mess Samson has caused. And Emmerdale stars James Hooton and Karen Blick have teased what’s to come.

James explained to Entertainment Daily!: “Lydia is the moral compass of the Dingles. The Dingles have the ‘Dingle Code’ but Lydia has the correct moral way to go about things.”

He continued: “He feels initially betrayed by the fact that Lydia’s made him do the right thing.

    “Words are said…”

However, fans can breathe a sigh of relief as in the end, ‘it’s all water under the bridge,’ and Sam comes round to Lydia’s viewpoint. Thank goodness for that!

Emmerdale spoilers: Sam punches Cain as Samson’s lies are exposed

In Emmerdale spoilers for next week, Samson Dingle admits the truth about his stabbing to the police after weeks of, frankly frustrating, lying.

But the confession leaves the Dingles in a right state. Sam and Cain are still at war and Sam soon turns violent. Meanwhile it causes problems for Sam and Lydia after she was instrumental in Samson coming clean.

Can the Dingles come together – or has this torn them apart for good?

Sam at war with his family

So the truth is out that Matty did not in fact stab Samson in cold blood, but accidentally when Josh pushed Samson on to Matty. The Dingles are a house divided over the revelation, however.

On one side is Sam, who is determined that Samson can’t get in trouble for this and must do the Dingle thing and run away. On the other is moral Lydia who is insistent Samson cannot evade the law.

As Sam and Samson have a secret meet-up, Lydia shows up and pleads with Samson to do the right thing. He eventually does and tells the police what really happened.

Sam is furious at everyone, Lydia for making Samson own up and Moira and Cain for reasons unknown when his son is clearly in the wrong.

Sam loses it in Emmerdale spoilers

Lydia faces the Dingle family, but stands her ground knowing she did the right thing. Meanwhile, Moira is feeling hopeful, but Sam makes it clear how angry he is with her.

Sam then comes face to face with Cain and for some reason lamps his brother one, punching Cain to the floor. Will Cain let this one go?

What Cain’s really concerned about is that Samson doesn’t try to do a runner again. Samson is left alone with his uncle and is nervous about what will happen – can’t say we blame him.

Will Cain exact revenge? Or leave that to the authorities?

    Danger for Matty

Meanwhile, in prison, Matty is relieved to hear that Sam has confessed, but what little hope he has is soon forgotten when he finds Robbo waiting for him.
