6 of the greatest Emmerdale comebacks – from Kim Tate’s return from the dead to Robert Sugden’s revival

Dramatic comebacks of iconic characters is what all Emmerdale fans live for. Recently, we’ve been treated to the return of Kim’s nemesis Joe Tate – who’s back in the village after a six-year absence.

Joe was unveiled as the mastermind behind Will and Peter’s plot to bring down Kim, and we can’t wait to see what other wicked tricks he’s got up his sleeve.

His perfectly staged return has also got us thinking about the other Emmerdale comebacks that really hit the mark. Here are six characters we were delighted to see back on our screens…

Best Emmerdale comebacks includes Kim Tate

Kim is the queen of the comeback, and one in particular has gone down in Emmerdale history.

It was 1997 when Kim did a disappearing act following the death of her lover Dave Glover. She paid a lookalike to drive her car around the village to make it look as if she was still around. But then the woman was found dead behind the wheel and Frank was charged with ‘Kim’s murder’.

Kim made a spectacular return and confronted Frank in the living room at Home Farm. The shock of seeing her back from the dead caused him to suffer a fatal heart attack. Instead of ringing for an ambulance, Kim just stood over and watched Frank die.

Once she was sure he was gone, Kim calmly pulled out her make-up compact, powdered her nose, then used the mirror to check Frank had stopped breathing. Oh, and she ended up receiving half of Home Farm in Frank’s will. What an icon!

    Aaron Dingle

There was a lot of hype surrounding Danny Miller’s return to Emmerdale in 2014.

After two years away from the soap, would the award-winning actor be able to recapture the magic he’d brought to the role of Aaron first time round? As it turned out, yes!

Aaron returned to stop his best mate Adam getting involved in a robbery with Ross Barton and Donna Windsor. That particular plot was pretty forgettable, but what was to follow was certainly not.

The Emmerdale writers had decided it was time for Aaron to have a new love interest. And just weeks after his comeback, the moody mechanic shared that first forbidden kiss with Robert Sugden. And with that Robron was born!

Robert Sugden makes the list for best Emmerdale comebacks

Robert’s return to Emmerdale in 2014 was another triumph!

The legacy character had been away for five years when the soap announced his return. It was confirmed the role of Robert had been recast, with actor Ryan Hawley taking over from Karl Davies.

Any concern that Rob might have lost his ruthless charm disappeared the moment he reappeared on screen. He was still the same slippery charmer, and had managed to nab himself a millionairess fiancée, Chrissie. Now heir to the Home Farm fortune, Robert took great delight flaunting his wealthy status as he reignited his feud with Andy and Katie

Within weeks it was hard to imagine anyone but Ryan portraying Robert. The character’s addictive love affair with Aaron led to one of the most popular partnerships in all of Soapland.

    Charity Dingle in Emmerdale

    Charity Dingle

In 2015 Charity was sentenced to two years in prison for perverting the course of justice. She was released after a year, but when Cain and Moira went to pick her up, they discovered she’d already left.

As it turned out the crafty minx was straight back to her old tricks. Moments after leaving the clink, Charity went on the rob and stole a red Ferrari from a nearby dealership. She took it for a spin, but disaster struck enroute when Charity ploughed the vehicle into a field and got stuck in the mud.

Later that day, Cain and Moira spotted the stolen Ferrari. They were gobsmacked when Charity stepped out, declaring she couldn’t come back from prison with nothing! Moira dealt with the situation by taking the car back to the dealership, while the police were hot on their heels.

But the shocks kept on coming when Charity then entered The Woolpack and declared she’d bought Diane Sugden’s half of the pub! She then blackmailed former lover Ross Barton into coughing up the cash for the purchase.

    Ross Barton

The long-awaited return of the Barton bad boy was one of our 2024 highlights.

Ross was a favourite amongst the fans during his first stint in the Dales and always at the centre of the drama. When news of his return was announced, actor Michael Parr, teased there would be fireworks for his character. And he wasn’t wrong!

During his time away, Ross had turned his hand to bareknuckle boxing and was unveiled as Billy Fletcher’s opponent. Strutting in to whoops and cheers from the crowd, Ross ripped off his sleeveless hoodie to show a rather impressive six pack.

Now that’s how to make an entrance!

    Tina Dingle

Zak Dingle’s funeral on Emmerdale was full of surprises – the biggest one being the comeback of his long lost daughter, Tina.

The character, who was previously played by Jacqueline Pirie, hadn’t been seen in the Dales for 28 years. So you can imagine everyone’s shock when she rocked up at Zak’s graveside. Belle didn’t even recognise her half-sister, which is hardly surprising seeing as they’d never met.

Now played by Brassic star Samantha Power, Tina claimed she was back to pay her respects. But there was an ulterior motive to her return. After causing carnage at the funeral, which resulted in her being carted off by the police, Tina tried to lay claim to Zak’s will.  Then came the bombshell that she was Vinny’s real mum, a secret which she tried to blackmail Mandy with.

She may have wreaked havoc amongst the Dingles, but Tina Mark Two did not get a positive reaction from the fans. They took to social media to voice their disappointment, with some saying the recast was an insult to the original actress.

Samantha has shared she’d be up for Tina coming back to cause more mischief, so let’s see what 2025 has in store.

10 Emmerdale characters who were jilted at the altar – from Carl King to Charity Dingle and more

Weddings in Emmerdale are known to bring the drama, and the occasional jilting. Over the years, several unlucky brides and grooms have found themselves dumped at the altar.

Often someone’s been a naughty cheat and it’s coming to them, but there are those that just didn’t deserve such a public humiliation.

Get ready to relive their embarrassment all over again as we look at 10 characters who were chucked on their wedding day.

    Emmerdale jilted characters: Luke McAllister

We’re rewinding the clock back to 1995, a time when Tina Dingle had a different face and was engaged to wed local heartthrob Luke McAllister.

Their romance caused uproar in the village, particularly amongst the Dingles, who blamed Luke for the death of Zak’s son Ben. The lad had collapsed and died after taking a punch from Luke, although it later transpired he had a heart defect.

Nevertheless, the Dingle clan never forgave Luke for their loss and drove his family out of the village. Luke stayed put and ended up falling for Tina, who he met at a dance. Naturally, her loved ones were livid.

After a whirlwind romance, Tina announced she was pregnant with Luke’s baby. A shotgun wedding was hastily arranged, but Tina wasn’t really in love with Luke. She waited until they were standing at the altar to tell her fiancé there was no baby, she just wanted revenge on him for what he did to Ben.

Luke did not take the news well. Weeks later he attempted to kill Tina in a speeding van, but she jumped out just in time. Luke wasn’t so lucky. He ploughed the vehicle into a fence and was killed on impact.

Lisa Dingle jilts Albert Dingle in Emmerdale

    Albert Dingle

It’s hard to imagine Lisa with anyone other than her beloved Zak, but she nearly became another man’s Mrs Dingle.

Lisa and Zak hit it off straightaway after meeting in 1996, but Zak’s jailbird brother Albert also had his eye on her. When Zak failed to prove his feelings, Lisa agreed to marry Albert, even though she didn’t really love him.

Their wedding day ended up being one to remember. First Lisa’s horrible ex-husband Barry Clegg crashed the nuptials and had to be forcibly removed from the church. Then Zak came to his senses and declared his love for Lisa in front of the whole congregation.

Poor Albert was heartbroken and ended up fleeing the village after the police arrived to question him over an armed robbery.

Zak finally got his girl, and just four months later Lisa became his wife.

Biff Fowler jilts Kathy Glover in Emmerdale

    Kathy Glover

Twice-widowed Kathy Glover hoped it was going to be third time lucky when she became engaged to her former brother-in-law Biff Fowler. But sadly it wasn’t to be.

Twisted teacher Graham Clark managed to get into Kathy’s head. The pair grew close and Kathy started to wonder whether she was marrying the right man. However, she put her doubts aside and decided to go ahead.

Dressed to impress in a gorgeous gold wedding gown, Kathy made her way up the aisle. But just as they were about to exchange vows, Biff called the wedding off, declaring he was unable to trust her and Graham.

Kathy was devastated and begged Biff to carry on. But his mind was made up. Biff rode out of the village on his motorbike shortly afterwards and hasn’t been seen since.

Nicola Blackstock jilts Carlos Diaz in Emmerdale

    Emmerdale jilted characters: Carlos Diaz

When Nicola Blackstock (now King) fell for dishy chef Carlos Diaz she had no idea he was sleeping with her sister, Bernice.

After the affair ended, Carlos ended up getting with Nicola. And she was so desperate to keep hold of him that she pretended she was pregnant. Carlos proposed and Nicola accepted. But that’s when it all started to unravel.

During her hen party, Nicola was caught necking vodka by Bernice. She confessed she wasn’t expecting and Bernice (who was actually pregnant at the time) insisted she had to tell Carlos before the ceremony. Nicola did the right thing, but was horrified when Carlos revealed the truth about him and Bernice and admitted he could be the father of her baby.

Appalled, Nicola stormed the church and declared the wedding was off due to Carlos cheating, before informing Ashley of his wife’s betrayal. Savage!

Tom King jilts Charity DIngle in Emmerdale

    Charity Dingle

It’s not often we feel sorry for Charity Dingle, but she didn’t deserve to be jilted by Tom King. Particularly as it was all super bitch Sadie’s fault.

Sadie was Jimmy King’s first wife, and Tom’s daughter-in-law. She despised Charity and did not take kindly to the idea of a former prostitute  threatening her position at Home Farm.

So Sadie started plotting to sabotage the couple’s big day. She recruited Cain to her dastardly mission, and paid him to make a move on Charity and capture the moment on camera. Although Charity rejected Cain’s advances, the incriminating pictures suggested otherwise.

Sadie showed the snaps to Tom on his wedding day. And surprise, surprise, he called off the nuptials, leaving Charity feeling totally distraught. And as for Sadie, she got her comeuppance. When Tom finally wised up to her scheming he cut her off without a penny.

    Kelly Windsor

Jimmy King sure knows how to pick ’em. After being made a fool of by first wife Sadie, he fell for another manipulative minx – Kelly Windsor.

In the lead up to their wedding Kelly discovered she’d fallen pregnant. The timing couldn’t have been worse. Kelly had just landed a lucrative modelling contract and feared a baby would scupper her career. Taking her agent’s advice, Kelly underwent an abortion behind poor Jimmy’s back.

But Kelly’s lies caught up with her on her wedding day. Eli Dingle paid Jimmy a visit and told him about the abortion. And if that wasn’t bad enough Eli also revealed he’d shared a cheeky snog with Kelly.

Disgusted by her double betrayal, Jimmy told Kelly she could forget becoming Mrs King!

    Emmerdale jilted characters: Michael Conway

Handsome Michael Conway was introduced to Emmerdale in 2009 as a love interest for Debbie Dingle.

The pair began a romance, but Debbie was devastated to learn Michael had failed to mention he had a pregnant fiancée. He claimed he’d called the wedding off, but Debbie’s dad Cain smelt a rat. He and Debbie found out where the nuptials were taking place and crashed the ceremony. But to their horror they discovered Michael’s bride-to-be was none other than Charity!

Cain outed Debbie and Michael’s affair and the fact that Debbie was her daughter. But despite the shocking revelations, Charity and Michael agreed to carry on with the wedding. That was until Debbie informed Michael that Charity had tricked him into proposing by pretending she was pregnant.

Charity was forced to admit there was no baby, and Michael called the whole thing off.

    Cain Dingle

Once upon a time Cain and Charity were on the verge of becoming husband and wife. But the wedding never happened.

After a tumultuous on/off affair that had begun when they were underage teens, Cain proposed to Charity on Christmas Day 2009. He got down on bended knee and presented her with a plastic engagement ring.

Swept up in the excitement, Cain organised a surprise wedding with a little help from his sister, Chas.

On March 11, 2010, Charity was taken to the registry office, where Cain was waiting to make an honest woman of her. But although she was touched by the romantic gesture, Charity had to let her fiancé down gently. She explained she wasn’t quite ready to settle down, so they returned home.

Unsurprisingly, the couple split shortly afterwards. Charity went on to wed husband number two Jai Sharma, while Cain married Moira.

Chas Dingle jilts Carl King in Emmerdale

    Emmerdale jilted characters: Carl King

Fans across the country cheered out loud for Chas the day she dumped love rat Carl King at the altar.

It was Christmas Day 2010 and the locals were invited to Chas and Carl’s festive nuptials. But no one – apart from Chas and her cousin Charity – knew what was about to happen.

Chas had discovered Carl had been sleeping with Woolpack barmaid Eve Jenson. In revenge, she told Carl she was pregnant with his baby and asked him to marry her. He agreed, completely unaware of the trap he’d fallen into.

With her stage set, Chas took great pleasure in outing Carl and Eve’s affair to everyone. And as a final sucker punch, she informed Carl there was no baby after all.

Nicky Miligan jilts Gabby Thomas in Emmerdale

    Gabby Thomas

Gabby’s jilting may have happened in the more private setting of Home Farm, but that didn’t make it any less humiliating.

It should have been the happiest day of Gabby’s life as she prepared to marry nanny Nicky Fox. But she discovered their whole romance was based on a big fat lie.

Nicky Fox was actually Nicky Miligan, Caleb’s son and the grandson of the late Frank Tate. He’d been faking his feelings for Gabby as part of a scheme concocted by Caleb to steal Kim Tate’s millions.

On the morning of their intended nuptials, Nicky couldn’t carry on the cruel deception. He told Gabby he couldn’t marry her because he was actually a gay man. She was devastated, but that was nothing compared to Caleb’s fury that his scam had failed.

And that’s only the beginning! Here’s some of the best and most memorable Emmerdale weddings.

    Kerry and Dan’s bigamous wedding

When Kerry and Dan tied the knot, everyone was delighted – except Kerry’s other husband that is! Kev showed up at the reception and announced he was Kerry’s husband, baffling the wedding guests, the groom AND the bride in equal measures! It turned out, he and Kerry had tied the knot in Las Vegas.

Kerry hadn’t believed their marriage was genuine and had forgotten all about it. A punch up ensued, obvs, but Kerry and Dan eventually reconciled – they never made it down the aisle properly though.

    Dawn and Billy’s murderous chauffeur

If you’re looking for dramatic wedding days, then look no further than Dawn Taylor and Billy Fletcher’s big day.

Serial killer Meena Jutla was on the run when she returned to Emmerdale on ex-boyfriend Billy’s wedding day. She posed as the wedding chauffeur, kidnapped Dawn and Billy and held them at gunpoint on the viaduct.

Evil Meena claimed she’d hurt Dawn’s surrogate mum, Harriet, as well as her little boy, Lucas. Meena fled, shooting Leyla as she went. Harriet and Lucas were fine, and Meena eventually went to jail for her crimes.

Tina’s revenge on Luke in Emmerdale weddings

In 1994, Ben Dingle had a fight with Luke McAllister. Ben died, though it was later discovered that he had an undiagnosed heart condition.

With the families at war, everyone was surprised when Ben’s sister Tina got together with Luke a year later. She announced her pregnancy and the pair planned their wedding. Luke gave up his A levels, Tina spent all his money and encouraged him to sell family heirlooms.

As the Dingles came round to the relationship, the wedding day loomed. And on the big day, Tina announced she wasn’t actually pregnant and she wasn’t going to marry Luke – it had all been revenge for Ben’s death!

Luke eventually died in an accident, after Tina rejected him, and wracked with guilt, Tina left Emmerdale.

Tina’s wedding day was also the arrival of Tina’s cousin, Mandy Dingle!

Carl didn't suspect a thing at his wedding to Chas (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)

Chas jilts Carl at the altar

Perhaps she was inspired by her cousin’s revenge plan because 15 years later, Chas Dingle took very similar revenge on Carl King. He’d cheated on her with Eve Jenson and Chas knew everything.

So she told her fiancé she was pregnant, planned a lavish wedding and when Carl coughed up for the arrangements, Chas pocketed the money. She jilted her cheating man at the altar, but their story wouldn’t end until Carl’s death two years later.

Emmerdale weddings: Mandy and Paul’s big, explosive day

The viewers knew that Paul Ashdale was a nasty piece of work, but bride to be Mandy Dingle was oblivious. When brave Liv Flaherty went to confront abusive Paul at the wedding venue, there was a shock in store. Jimmy King accidentally drove a haulage truck into the barn, and Paul was pinned under debris, and Liv refused to help. As she walked away, the barn exploded and Paul was killed.

    Betty and Seth’s non-wedding

Seth Armstrong and Betty Eagleton had been sweethearts in the past and rekindled their romance after 50 years in 1994.

They decided there was no point in getting married after so long but instead they just had the party in 1940s costumes, with the whole village turning out to wish them well.

Emily and Butch’s tragic deathbed wedding

Cute couple Emily Wylie and Butch Dingle were planning a wedding when tragedy struck. When the brakes failed on a minibus run by Tate Transport, the bus ploughed into a haulage lorry. Butch Dingle was so badly injured in the crash and doctors told him the sad news that they couldn’t save his life. He and Emily said their wedding vows on his deathbed. Sob!

Butch’s big Dingle funeral introduced the characters of Cain, Charity and Shadrach.

    Carlos and Nicola’s bouquet battle

Nicola Blackstock came to Emmerdale to track down her long-lost sister Bernice. It wasn’t long before she’d fallen head over heels for chef Carlos, fallen pregnant, and they got engaged. Except Nicola’s pregnancy was made up, and Bernice was also sleeping with Carlos.

When Bernice found out the truth about the pregnancy, on Nicola’s wedding day, she wanted Nicola to fess up. But when her own secret romance with the groom was revealed, things got physical. Nicola and Bernice had a tussle in the churchyard, and the bride beat up the groom with her bouquet.

Matthew and Anna’s car crash of a day

Matthew King was tying the knot with Anna De Souza despite him watching her dad die in front of her. When his brother Carl revealed the truth, Anna fled. The brothers brawled and Matthew tried to run Carl over. When Anna appeared, he swerved, and crashed into the gatepost. He was thrown through the windscreen and died in Anna’s arms.

    Jo and Andy’s prison ceremony

Talk about toxic – Jo Stiles lied and manipulated her way into a relationship with Andy Sugden. The pair had a prison wedding – just like every girl dreams of – because Andy was banged up.

Things got very dark after his release, when he began abusing Jo and even put her in hospital with broken bones. He told the village she had abused him and when everyone believed him, she left Emmerdale forever.

    Emmerdale: Robron’s long awaited wedding

After a lot of drama along the way, fan faves Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle – Robron – tied the knot in 2017. It was the day after the birth and death of Aaron’s baby sister, Grace, but mum Chas urged him to go ahead. Finally the pair made it official in the pagoda in the village.

Debbie was rescued by groom Pete and her dad Cain
Debbie’s wedding to Pete ended in death and destruction (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)

Debbie’s lies bring her wedding day crashing down in Emmerdale

We’ve saved the most dramatic wedding until last! When Debbie Dingle and Pete Barton got engaged they planned a gorgeous country-fair themed wedding. Except Debbie was having a steamy affair with Pete’s brother Ross and all was about to be revealed!

At the reception, a recording of Debbie and Ross admitting to their affair was played to the stunned guests. But that was just the beginning of the drama. At the haulage yard, Chrissie White was confronting cheating husband Robert about his behaviour. She set fire to his car in revenge, and some nearby cans of propane exploded. One of the gas canisters shot into the air, and hit an approaching helicopter. Despite the pilot’s best efforts the chopper plummeted into the village hall.

Ruby Haswell died, Cain rescued son Kyle in the nick of time, and Val Pollard, trapped in the mirror maze with sister Diane Sugden, told rescuers to save her sister first. But Val’s selflessness came at a price as she was impaled by a shard of broken glass.

Bride Debbie was injured and taken away to hospital while Pete and Ross fought seemingly to the death. Pete thought he’d killed his brother, and buried him in a shallow grave, only for Ross to show up again a few weeks later.

Definitely the most dramatic wedding Emmerdale has seen – so far!

  • Emmerdale review of the week: Pollard’s breaking our hearts, Tina’s boring and Steph’s arrived!

Emmerdale review of the week: Pollard’s breaking our hearts, Tina’s boring and Steph’s arrived!

This week’s Emmerdale review is a bit emotional, we’ve got to be honest. Not Piper levels of emotion, obvs, but we have found ourselves a little misty-eyed at points.

    Much to our surprise!

Here’s what set us off this week in our Emmerdale review.

Eric is annoyed at Caleb's new business
Eric was ever so cross with Caleb (Credit: ITV)

    Eric’s ordeal

Yes, yes, we know that Eric Pollard is a grumpy git with a fondness for a scam and a general air of crossness but how sad was his plight in this week’s episodes? That’s why this Emmerdale review is so teary!

As we know, Eric was diagnosed with Parkinson’s a while ago, and though he’s been managing well, there have been signs that he is beginning to struggle.

His tremors have become more obvious, though he’s been trying to hide them, and this week he lost his temper when he couldn’t get an appointment at the doctor’s surgery.

He also lost his temper, more than once, with Caleb who launched his new business and sent lorries hurtling past Pollard’s house.

But that’s not what made us teary. What really stabbed us in the heart was seeing Eric, who was once so bold and bolshy, trapped in bed, begging for help.

Thankfully he eventually recovered enough to get outside and head off to find someone who could come to his aid.

Sadly for him, that someone turned out to be Caleb! Bickering all the way, Eric let him drive him to find Liam.

Pollard and Brenda in the pub
Pollard and Brenda are making wedding plans (Credit: ITV)

    Plucking our heartstrings!

All this drama resulted in Pollard realising he wanted to marry his long-term partner, Brenda. So he got down on one knee (admittedly with a bit of difficulty) and proposed. And Brenda said yes. And we found ourselves welling up at the sweet moment.

Chris Chittell has played Pollard since 1986, making him Emmerdale’s longest-serving cast member. Sometimes when actors have played the same role for a long time, it’s easy to take them for granted. But this week Chris reminded us just how good he is.

And a big thumbs up for Lesley Dunlop – his real-life wife and now on-screen fiancée – too. We know Brenda is leaving Emmerdale but we’re not sure how she’ll go. Will Eric go too? We do know that Pollard’s story won’t be easy to watch, but we are sure Chris and Lesley will do it proud.

At the end of his tether, Jai Sharma [CHRIS BISSON] demands back the money Caleb Miligan [WILL ASH] hid for him in an offshore account.
Caleb’s nicked all of Jai’s money but Laurel’s been shafted too (Credit: ITV)

Caleb v Jai in our Emmerdale review

Elsewhere in Emmerdale, things weren’t so interesting. We are not the biggest fans of a business-focused storyline at the best of times, and this whole thing with Caleb and Jai left us more than a little confused.

What exactly is Caleb’s business? Is it the haulage business? Or are there two haulage firms in Emmerdale now?

Why is Billy turning up at work wearing a suit? What is Kerry being paid to clean? We have a lot of questions, but we’re not that bothered about the answers, to be honest.

BUT saying all that, we are very pleased that Jai’s got his comeuppance. All that swaggering around and not playing fair over his divorce has finally come back to bite him, and we are very pleased.

Except, we wish he hadn’t shafted Laurel in the process, and we really wish it wasn’t Caleb who’d come out on top. Because he totally doesn’t deserve it either.

Steph's arrival will cause a stir in Emmerdale (Credit: ITV)
Steph is wondering why her brother is a Geordie, just like we are (Credit: ITV)

Steph’s arrived in our Emmerdale review!

We’ve been desperate to meet Caleb and Ruby’s daughter, Steph. We really like Ruby now and we’re looking forward to getting to know more about her daughter, too.

Georgia Jay seems to be perfectly cast as Steph. She’s physically similar to Ruby, and she’s even got similar mannerisms.

And she’s also perfected Caleb’s steely stare which she greeted her long-lost dad with. Altogether she’s great.

One thing that puzzled us a tiny bit though – and let’s be honest, this isn’t the first time the Miligan family have left us scratching our heads in this respect – was Steph’s accent.

We’re not sure where she’s been but she is super-posh. More so than her southerner mum, who apparently grew up alongside her Mancunian dad. And quite where Geordie Nicky fits into this rich family tapestry of accents, we don’t know.

But so far, we like the look of Steph. And we can’t wait to find out more about her!

    Tina’s a damp squib

We were SO excited that Tina Dingle was returning but so far, she’s not filling us with excitement.

We might be more interested if it turns out Vinny really does have some siblings he’s never met, but that’s only a maybe. Frankly there are more than enough Dingles in the village already!

Our heads were spinning with the speed of Vinny finding out the truth, falling out with Mandy, falling out with Tina, then forgiving Mandy, all in the space of four episodes.

Where will Tina go from here? We’re still willing to give this return a chance, because we loved Tina Mark 1 back in the 90s, but we need something exciting to happen really soon!

‘The old Cain is back’ cheer fans as they swoon over his smoking hot scenes

Cain Dingle proved there’s still some of the bad boy left in last night’s Emmerdale when he set Tina’s caravan on fire. And fans loved it!

Despite all of the Dingles having had enough of Tina, Cain was the one who took decisive action. But has Tina now gone for good?

Cain burns Tina’s caravan in Emmerdale

Tina proved what a money hungry, selfish person she has now become on Tuesday November 12. She refused to apologise to Vinny for lying about being his mum or abandoning him when he was a baby.

Vinny then gave her an ultimatum – take £50k in exchange for Zak’s will and leave forever, or stay and be his mum. Tina barely hesitated as she took the money and handed over Zak’s will. Only, Vinny had tricked her and inside the envelope was just cut-up paper.

She tried hard to fight back, but Vinny knew exactly where he stood and demanded she get out and never come back.

However it turned out she only went as far as her caravan! She sat there, in the Dingles’ driveway, defiant she would get what she was owed. She also dropped the bombshell she has more kids, leaving Vinny stunned at the prospect of siblings.

Cain then decided enough was enough and took action. He poured petrol all over the place and threatened to light it. Tina told him not to and begged the Dingles to get Cain to stop. They didn’t, they just stood and watched. When Tina refused to give an inch, Cain lit the place on fire.

The caravan went up in flames as Cain stalked off saying: “Some people just can’t take a hint,” leaving Tina shocked and speechless.

    Fans react to Cain

The glimpse of the old, no nonsense Cain was enough to get fans hot under the collar – if you pardon the pun!

“Bloomin’ love Cain! No mambypamby faffing around. Just gets in there and gets stuff sorted,” said on on social media.

Another agreed, sharing heart-eyed emojis they said: “There he is! Oh how I’ve missed the old Cain.”

“Omg… that’s the Cain we all love…” said one more, with a fourth adding: “Yes Cain, I love him like this.”

“That is my favourite walking away from explosion meme ever!!!! Cain the gangster back!!” enthused a fifth.

Someone else said: “Gotta say, an angry Cain is…” followed by a fire emoji.

    Has Tina left Emmerdale?

Tina now has no home, no family backing, no copy of Zak’s will – frankly she has nothing. So what’s left for her? She’s not made herself popular with anyone and even those watching at home are disappointed with the ‘new’ Tina calling her nothing like the old one.

She’s certainly not the Tina we know and love from Classic Emmerdale days. But given her new personality, we wouldn’t put it past her to stick around and keep fighting.

Actress Samantha Power suggested this was only a short stint, but with the news of her other children, could she make a more permanent comeback with her Dingle brood?

  • What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Tina left with nothing after Vinny double-crossed her and Cain set fire to her caravan

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: Tina left with nothing after Vinny double-crossed her and Cain set fire to her caravan

Emmerdale tonight saw Tina face the wrath of Vinny, Sam and Cain – and her life went up in smoke thanks to the latter. Will she still stick around after this?

Meanwhile, it was clear Pollard is facing a health crisis. But will he get the help he needs before it’s too late?

Here’s what happened in Emmerdale on Tuesday November 12.

    Vinny wouldn’t talk to Mandy

Vinny didn’t want to speak to Mandy, despite Gabby encouraging him to hear her out. Mandy meanwhile was desperate to talk to him and as her voice broke we actually felt quite sorry for her for once. There was no overacting or big, bubbly and loud Mandy here, just a genuinely broken one.

Tina got an offer she couldn't refuse (Credit: ITV)

    Vinny tricked Tina

Tina burst into Wishing Well to use the facilities and Sam gave it to her with both barrels. Vinny interrupted the argument to have it out with Tina.

Tina fronted it out and said she wouldn’t grovel. Not the best way to start. But then she claimed she was too much of a mess to raise a baby. Vinny was not stupid – he knew she came back when there was profit and not for him.

So Vinny offered her £50k – if she took the money, she would give Zak’s will back and would never contact him again. But if she didn’t, she could stay and be a mum to him.

    Tina choose the money. Obviously.

But there was no money in there, it was just paper. And Tina went mad. She’d already handed the will over and although she tried to argue it out, Vinny told her to get out and stay out.

Cain dealt with Tina, but is she leaving now?

As the Dingles all descended to confront Tina, she dropped the bombshell she had other kids to feed. More Dingles? Is she telling the truth?

Cain wasn’t bothered to be honest, he just wanted her gone and arrived with a can of petrol. He meant business as he poured it all over the caravan. Tina begged him to stop, but none of the Dingles stood up for her and Cain lit the flame, with the caravan going up in smoke.

So will Tina stick around? Or will she go? Well, she hasn’t got anywhere to stay, but it actress Samantha Power had previously said her stint was a short one, so could this be the kick she needs to get out of town and leave the Dingles alone for good?

Pollard lost it in Emmerdale tonight

Pollard was still out for Caleb’s head and Brenda warned him to leave it alone. Of course Pollard had no intention of doing so. But then he made a phone call to the doctors and couldn’t get through and broke down in tears. So it’s clear something else is going on here and it’s not just Caleb getting to him.

He then went to the doctors and launched into an attack on Ella, tearfully begging to speak to a doctor. Bear and Wendy stepped in and escorted him out.

When Brenda later confronted him, Pollard claimed he just needed a routine appointment. But something tells us it’s more than that. Is Pollard really okay?

Later in the Woolpack, Eric lost it at Caleb again, but he was clearly struggling, shaking as he tried to get the upper hand. We are not happy about this, poor Eric…

    Also in Emmerdale tonight…

    Caleb played Jai

Jai gave Billy a trial at the depot, playing the big boss. But he didn’t check with Caleb. Oops, that’s sure to have consequences.

Jai also asked for his money back from Caleb after Laurel found out he was involved with the depot. But Caleb played hardball and insisted he was best off leaving the money in the offshore account. He managed to talk Jai round, but clearly Caleb has an agenda. Will Jai be clever enough to work out what it is?

  • ‘Do the writers hate Vinny?’ ask fans as he learns the truth about Tina

‘Do the writers hate Vinny?’ ask fans as he learns the truth about Tina

Fans of Emmerdale have wondered whether the soap writers have a vendetta against poor Vinny. This follows last night’s episode of the soap (Monday, November 11), in which he finally learned the truth about Tina’s identity – namely, that she is his own estranged mother.

As Vinny learned how she had betrayed the Dingles, he disowned his mum (Mandy, that is), telling her that she was no-one to him, and stormed off.

This leaves Vinny adrift from the woman who raised him, and with the so-far repellent Tina Dingle continuing to send his life spinning into chaos. All of which begs the question… do the writers hate Vinny Dingle?

‘Poor Vinny’ say Emmerdale viewers as he learns the truth

As the episode aired, viewers shared their thoughts on Vinny‘s bombshell. And many found themselves sympathising with the youngster amid this latest development.

“I love Vinny!! Why can’t the writers let him have a happy storyline for once,” said one angry fan on the social media site X.

“The writers must hate Vinny. Abusive dad. A mum who sold him. Kill his wife. And the only girl he can now get is a very desperate Gobby Gabby,” said another.

“They’ll never give Vinny even a moderately happy storyline. Because the writers are [censored],” wrote a third.

“Why can’t Vinny have a good storyline for a good while?” asked one fan.

“Tina is disgusting poor Vinny,” another viewer said.

The sad life of Vinny Dingle

This is just the latest unhappy development in the miserable life of Vinny – spurned by his own mother (who blamed post natal depression) and who found himself on the receiving end of his absentee father’s abuse when he did return into his life, years later.

And then there’s the whole dead wife thing – crushed to death by a caravan in 2022.

    Poor Vinny indeed.

  • Emmerdale review of the week: Boxing boredom, Dawn’s back, and Tina’s in trouble

Emmerdale review of the week: Boxing boredom, Dawn’s back, and Tina’s in trouble

This week’s Emmerdale review is written wearily as we force ourselves to watch another bout of illegal boxing and all the toxic men in the village trying to out do each other.

But there were some less exhausting parts too. Here’s what we thought of the action in this week’s Emmerdale review.

    Jade threatens Billy
Jade seems to be an evil criminal mastermind running a two-bit boxing match in random barns. (Credit: ITV)

Boxing boredom in our Emmerdale review

What on earth is all this then? Nothing about this illegal boxing story makes sense. In no particular order, here are the things that have been bothering us this week…

First up, how is Jade both a two-bit boxing promoter running fights in random barns, and at the same time a criminal mastermind with enough contacts to threaten Billy’s kids and know that Billy’s wife used to be an addict?!

How are her henchmen so evil and strong that they can beat Ross to a pulp, but not bright enough to pick up the money belt that looked like it might have belonged to Martin Fowler.

Why were the people watching the fight a rag-tag group of weirdos but somehow with enough cash to place bets so massive that they had to pay for them with rolls of money? It’s all a mystery.

Mum Dawn is devoted to her family (Credit: ITV)
This is Dawn’s unimpressed face (Credit: ITV)

    Dawn stepped up

Dawn came up with the brilliant idea of Billy throwing the fight. Which was a) surprisingly smart for Dawn and b) totally what Jade should have done last week.

But as it happened it didn’t matter, because John called the police and everyone scarpered. And we were left groaning that this whole awful story still isn’t over.

Dawn looking at Ross on Emmerdale
Ross and Dawn share a history (Credit: ITV)

    Dawn’s back

It’s hard to remember now she mostly wanders round with a chip on her shoulder and a laundry basket on her hip, but Dawn used to be quite interesting. And she had a bit of an edge to her. We caught a little glimpse of that old Dawn this week and we liked it!

There was a definite spark between her and Ross, which reminded us how much we liked them together back in the day. And it was quite amusing how all the big men – Ross, Billy, Aaron – were scared of Jade, while Dawn just sent her packing. More, please!

Samantha Power as Tina Dingle in Emmerdale (Credit: ITV)
We’re undecided about Tina’s return (Credit: ITV)

Tina’s back, too in our Emmerdale review

Tina’s back in Emmerdale but unlike Dawn, she’s bearing no trace of the old Tina Dingle whatsoever. Unlike some fans, we liked Tina when she first came back for Zak’s funeral – but she’s not quite doing it for us. Mostly because she’s so completely different from the old Tina!

First time round, Tina was smart, with a sharp-tongue, and a quick brain. She was a bit classier than the average Dingle – we’re not talking Kim Tate classy but you know what we mean – and she was ambitious, albeit ruthless.

New Tina is a carbon copy of Rose Jackson, in her scheming and lying, and she even looks a bit like her. She probably is entitled to some of Zak’s house but we don’t much care either way.

And we still don’t understand why or how Mandy kept the identity of Vinny’s mum a secret.

Why so much hate for Tina?!

Another thing that’s got us scratching our heads over Tina is why everyone hates her. We admit she did wrong during her time in Emmerdale, but she was devoted to her family and grief-stricken over the loss of her brother Ben.

She and Mandy were always besties and their goodbye was heartfelt and emotional. She even begged Mandy to go to London with her and left her cousin the fancy car Frank Tate had bought her.

We sort of get Mandy having mixed feelings about her now given the Vinny sitch, but what about the rest of the Dingles? It’s all very confusing!

Vet's receptionist Ella revealed a dark past in Emmerdale (Credit: ITV)
Give Ella something to do for heaven’s sake! (Credit: ITV)

    What’s the point of Ella?

We are reluctant to say this out loud because we love Paula Lane, who plays child killer Ella, but what’s the point of her now her secret’s been revealed? Give her something to do! We liked her almost-friendship with Cain, and her bonding with Manpreet for starters. Her backstory does make her hard to like, but surely there’s a place for her somewhere in the village?

    Dingles united

One thing we did love about this week’s episode was the bonfire night fiasco with the Guy who looked like Tom King! Tom’s reaction was totally predictable, as he threw a massive tantrum, shouted at poor Amelia, and whinged to Uncle Jimmy.

And we LOVED the Dingles’ Spartacus moment when they all took the blame. The Dingles at their absolute best!

John and Aaron talk, but it doesn't go well (Credit: ITV)
Definitely time for a Robert return! (Credit: ITV)

    Loving John

We are really enjoying John and Aaron’s budding romance. They’re so good together and it seems they’re on an even keel now after a pretty rocky start.

Which probably means it’s time for Robert to come back, wouldn’t you say? Hint, hint, Emmerdale writers…

  • What happened in Emmerdale tonight: John was exposed, Mandy took her power back and Ross was beaten up again

What happened in Emmerdale tonight: John was exposed, Mandy took her power back and Ross was beaten up again

Emmerdale tonight revealed the fallout from the fight as Ross took another beating and the person who made the call to the cops was revealed – and there were no surprises there.

Mandy also decided to take on Tina, but can she win?

Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight, Friday November 8.

The fight club fallout continued in Emmerdale tonight

Cain made his thoughts on Ross perfectly clear (Credit: ITV)
Cain made his thoughts on Ross perfectly clear (Credit: ITV)

    Ross had nowhere to turn

Cain told Ross to pack his bags and get out. It then seemed everyone just thought Ross had actually upped and left without saying goodbye, but really he’d been beaten to a pulp and left barely conscious over the missing money and the police showing up at the fight.

Billy and Dawn found him and helped him home, where Charity was still fighting Ross’s corner to Cain. Seeing him bloodied and beaten did little to evoke sympathy in Cain, but Charity pestering him did. Cain relented and let Ross stay.

Ross obviously took Charity’s support as meaning she was definitely still into him and tried his luck again. Meanwhile Mack had the wind taken out of his sales when Ross revealed he was staying, but was still secretly smug about the money he has stashed away.

    Billy and Dawn in trouble

Things were no better between Dawn and Billy. Billy knows he’s really messed up. And there isn’t really any way to put it right, despite his only real line at the moment being: “Look, Dawn, I’ll fix this,” he actually doesn’t have a hope in hell of fixing it.

Jade turning up only made things worse as she demanded her money back. But her threats didn’t scare Dawn who gave as good as she got and threw Jade out.

Will Jade work out who really has her cash? Or will Billy and Dawn suffer some more before Mack saves them?

John wasn't happy to be thanked (Credit: ITV)

    John was exposed

Aaron woke up in hospital with Chas pecking his head about what he’d got involved in. PC Swirling then came to take his statement and Aaron stayed tight-lipped.

After more cross words with Chas Aaron admitted he was pushing John away. Right on cue John turned up and Aaron managed to open up a little, teensy, tiny bit. They agreed to start looking forward and not back.

As John left the hospital room, PC Swirling cornered him and thanked him for giving them the tip-off about the fights. So John was the one who squealed, but why? And what else is he hiding?

    Tina turned the screws

Tina cooked Sam and Vinny a fry up to cure their hangovers, rubbing Mandy’s face in it as she engineered spending more time with Vinny. Mandy tried to talk to Sam about selling Wishing Well as per Tina’s demands, but he wasn’t interested.

Tina continued to wind Mandy up, performing karaoke in the Woolpack and singing Vinny and Mandy’s song together. Mandy couldn’t take any more and stormed out of the pub.

Mandy made a decision in Emmerdale tonight

Paddy followed his wife and found her crying. He demanded an explanation, especially after the secret Mandy kept about her financial struggles.

Mandy confessed Tina was blackmailing her and she was Vinny’s real mum. Paddy insisted she couldn’t let Tina win and Mandy took her power back, strongly saying Tina would not be threatening her again.

Can she really get rid of her though? Or is Vinny’s world about to come crashing down?
