Belle Dingle has gone missing in Emmerdale and Charity and Cain are worried after finding a trashed holiday cottage and blood where she was supposed to be – but is Belle dead?
Viewers know, and Charity suspects, Belle is in an abusive marriage with Tom King. But as the young couple ventured off on their holiday to ‘repair’ their relationship, something terrible seems to have happened.
Tomorrow night we will find out exactly what as flashbacks air to Tom and Belle’s week away. But for now, we’re left worried. Seriously worried. Is Belle dead? Is Tom dead? Are they both dead? What has happened?

Belle and Tom disappear in Emmerdale
Heading off on their break without telling anyone, Belle and Tom have got Charity concerned. Meanwhile, an email to the vets has exposed Tom’s new job prospects and Belle also isn’t answering her phone.
She doesn’t actually have her phone, it turns out, because Tom stashed it in the drawer before they left and she couldn’t find it. Incidentally, it seems to be in the same drawer she hid her birth control pills, so maybe that should be dubbed the ‘official hiding place’ in their house and be the first place anyone looks.
Anyway, someone who did look in there was Charity after she persuaded Cain something wasn’t right. She’s told him Tom reminds her of Bails, and after she discovered Belle has not been attending her mental health appointments, decided to break in to their house.
Cain helped her and they were surprised to see the level of surveillance equipment inside. They also found Belle’s phone and Tom’s budget book showing his records of everything Belle spends.
It was enough to sound alarm bells and the pair hot-footed it to Wales to the cottage Belle and Tom were staying in.

Is Belle dead in Emmerdale?
The sight that greeted them was not a welcome one. The cottage was in darkness. It had been completely smashed up, “What the hell?” questioned Charity as they found the light switch.
Charity then discovered Belle’s discarded jumper and knew they were in the right place. But there was no sign of Belle.
“Whatever he’s done, he’s a dead man,” said Cain. YES! This is what we’ve been waiting for.
But is he already a dead man? Is it Belle’s blood or Tom’s? Has Belle lashed out at last and done her abusive husband in? Or has Tom hurt Belle so badly she won’t survive?
Belle’s smile soon fades (Credit: ITV)
What happens next?
Tomorrow night (Wednesday July 24) flashbacks will show exactly what has happened between Tom and Belle.
When they first arrive at the cottage Belle is hopeful they will get back on track. But it’s not long before Tom starts mocking and manipulating. And when she then overhears him arranging to rent the cottage for longer than agreed, she is confused.
As the rest of the week unfolds, what should be a lovely, romantic getaway, turns into a terrifying ordeal for Belle and Piper. Will she escape Tom’s clutches? Or is this the end of Belle?

The King family have had a presence in Emmerdale for two decades. In 2004, wealthy widower Tom King (Senior) arrived in the village. Along with him he brought three of his four grown up sons – Jimmy, Matthew and Carl. Youngest son Max followed later, as did Jimmy’s wife, Sadie.
The Kings became the new owners of Home Farm in 2005, and ran their successful haulage business King & Sons from the estate.
They may have had millions in the bank, but life at the big house brought the Kings nothing but misery and misfortune.
Here’s a look at all the tragedies the befell the family – who they all are and what happened to them…

Head of the King family in Emmerdale: Tom King
Tom was the former head of the King family and feared businessman, played by Ken Farrington.
He was dad of Jimmy, Matthew, Carl and Max. Tom also fathered a daughter, Scarlett, after he had an affair with her mother, Carrie Nicholls while she was caring for his terminally ill wife, Mary.
Tom was a multi-millionaire and owner of King & Sons, the haulage firm which he ran with Jimmy, Matthew, Carl and Jimmy’s then-wife Sadie.
Born into a wealthy family, Tom had grown up in Emmerdale. He was acquainted with locals including Frank Tate and Alan Turner.
In 2005, Tom took the throne at Home Farm, but his ruthless and unpleasant nature meant he wasn’t popular with many of the locals.
Tom became engaged to Charity Dingle, but jilted her at the alter after being tricked by Sadie into believing she’d cheated on him.
After losing son Max in a car crash, Tom invested in land and built The Kings River Housing development. But disaster struck on the day of the grand opening when the house exploded and killed three people.
Tom met his own grisly end on Christmas Day 2006.
He had just married gold-digging Rosemary Sinclair when he was pushed to his death off a balcony by a mystery figure – who later turned out to be his own son Carl!

Jimmy King and family in Emmerdale
James Frederick ‘Jimmy’ King is the longest-serving member of the family and played by actor Nick Miles.
He’s the eldest son of the late Tom King, and brother to the late Matthew, Carl and Max King. Jimmy is the husband of Nicola King and father of Elliot Windsor, Angelica King and Carl Holliday.
Introduced in 2004, Jimmy was initially portrayed as a cold-hearted businessman. But has since changed into a devoted family man and something of a comedy figure.
His most memorable storylines include the breakdown of his marriage to first wife Sadie King after discovering she’d bedded his brother Matthew, surviving being stabbed and suffering from amnesia after a blow to the head.
Sadie was sexy and slippery (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
Sadie King
Superbitch Sadie was the first wife of Jimmy King and played by Patsy Kensit.
Sadie may have married into the King clan, but she was the one who held all the power. And from the moment of her dramatic arrival via helicopter in 2004, it was clear she had a gameplan.
Jimmy was besotted with Sadie and desperate to start a family with her, but as it turned out she’d only married him for the money and was really in love with his younger brother, Matthew.
Sadie cheated on Jimmy with Robert Sugden and Cain Dingle, but it was her affair with Matthew that ended their marriage.
Post-Jimmy, Sadie tried every scheme in the book to get her hands on the King family’s fortune, but even Matthew saw through her in the end.
In a final act of revenge, Sadie hatched a dastardly plan with Cain to fake her own death. Sadie made her escape from the village and hasn’t been heard of since 2007 when she sent the Kings flowers and a note in the wake of Tom’s murder.

Nicola King
Nicola is Jimmy’s feisty second wife and has been played by Nicola Wheeler since 2001.
She’s mum to their daughter Angelica and a mother figure to Jimmy’s two sons, Elliot and Carl.
Nicola and Jimmy had a fling 2009 which resulted in Nicola discovering she was 17 weeks pregnant.
Daughter Angelica ‘Angel’ was born in August of that year, and Nicola went on to become Mrs King.
The couple had a short-lived stint as landlord and landlady of The Woolpack, but Nicola found it too much of a juggle managing a busy bar and a baby.
Being a stay-at-home mum was never the life ambitious Nicola wanted. She became a councillor, although has since had to step down due to daughter Angelica’s lies over joy riding. She has shares in the cafe and is a part-owner of the Grange B&B. Meanwhile, Jimmy runs the haulage firm with Will Taylor.
Jimmy and Nicola have weathered many a storm and 2024 has been one of their toughest years yet following Angelica imprisonment for dangerous driving.
Currently in a secure children’s home, Angelica will be back later this year (Credit: ITV)
Angelica King
Angelica Mary ‘Angel’ King is the only daughter of Jimmy and Nicola King, and the half-sister of Elliot and Carl.
The character has been played by Rebecca Bakes since 2009.
Angel had a dramatic entrance into the world when she was born prematurely, then kidnapped by Carl’s wife Lexi King.
Lexi, who had tragically suffered the loss of her own baby, snatched Angel and took her up to the roof of the hospital, before Jimmy and Nicola rescued their daughter.
Angelica is currently serving time in a secure children’s home after she was responsible for a car crash that killed her friend Heath Hope.
Nicola and Jimmy tried to prevent her going to prison, but Angelica was handed an eight-month sentence.
Elliot Windsor
Elliot Windsor is the son of Jimmy King and Kelly Windsor and half-brother of Angelica King and Carl Holliday.
The character is played by Luca Hoyle.
Elliot was born in America and Jimmy didn’t even know of his existence until he was three years old.
In 2012, Elliot’s mum Kelly sent him to live with Jimmy and Nicola on a permanent basis. He sees Nicola as a mother figure and calls her mum.
Jimmy’s youngest son bears his uncle’s name (Credit: ITV)
Carl Holliday
Carl Holliday is Jimmy’s son with Juliette Holliday, who was conceived after a mix-up at the fertility clinic when Juliette was impregnated with the wrong man’s sperm.
After giving birth, Juliette felt she couldn’t cope with the responsibility of a child and left Carl in the care of Jimmy and Nicola.
Juliette returned to the village in 2021 in search of her son and the pair slowly started to get to know one another.
Sadly, Juliette decided motherhood ultimately wasn’t for her and went to live in New York with her boyfriend.

Matthew King – the cruellest of the King family in Emmerdale
Matthew Thomas ‘Matt’ King was the second son of Tom and Mary King, and played by Matt Healey.
He was the most cruel and manipulative of the four King brothers, and Tom’s favourite child.
The character’s heartless nature was shown early on when he helped cover up the death of postman Paul Marsden and conned his widow.
He was a ruthless womaniser too and didn’t think twice about stealing another man’s missus. And then tossing her aside when he got what he wanted.
Matthew had a torrid affair with Jimmy’s wife Sadie, which ended badly when he realised how evil she really could be.
After Tom’s murder, Matthew took control of the family business, but frequently fell out with Jimmy and Carl.
A happy ending looked to be on the cards when Matthew fell madly in love with Anna De Souza.
Unfortunately it wasn’t to be.
On the day of their intended wedding, Anna jilted Matthew after Carl revealed he’d played a part in the death of her father Donald.
In revenge, Matthew attempted to mow Carl down in a van, but ended up crashing into a wall. He died at the scene of the crash, in Anna’s arms.

Carl King and his twisted family in Emmerdale
Carl Thomas King was the third son of Tom and Mary and played by Tom Lister.
The character was a notorious lothario and villain, who wreaked havoc in the Dales for eight years.
Carl was the first King to move to the village in 2004.
At that time he was married to first wife Colleen, with whom he shared children Anya and Tom.
Carl may have been a taken man, but that didn’t stop him pursuing other women.
When Colleen eventually threw him out, Carl embarked on a turbulent on/off romance with fellow single parent Chas Dingle.
Tom disapproved of his son being involved with Chas, and it was for that reason Carl pushed him to his death.
Carl was briefly wed to Lexi Nicholls, but admitted he only married her because she knew his killer secret.
Finding himself single again, Carl wormed his way back into Chas’s heart. He had an affair with Eve Shaw and Chas took her revenge by exposing the affair on their wedding day and jilting Carl at the altar.
But Carl’s obsession with winning Chas back proved to be his undoing.
During a dramatic final showdown in 2012, Carl attempted to rape Chas but she managed to escape after hitting him over the head with a brick.
Chas’s lover Cameron Murray then found Carl, a fight ensued, and Cameron bludgeoned Carl to death with a brick.
Carl’s death occurred during Emmerdale’s 40th anniversary live episode, which was watched by an audience of 8.8 million.
We just hate him! (Credit: ITV)
Thomas ‘Tom’ King
Thomas ‘Tom’ King is the son of Carl and Colleen King, brother of Anya King and the nephew of Jimmy King.
Tom was named after his paternal grandfather, Tom King, and has followed in his late Uncle Max’s footsteps by becoming a vet.
The character has been played by four different actors since 2004 and is currently portrayed by James Chase.
Tom is the husband of Belle Dingle, but behind closed doors has been subjecting his wife to violent abuse and coercive control.
Tom showed signs of having a dark side from an early age.
He blamed Chas for his father’s murder and subjected her to a campaign of terror – sending disturbing photographs and making anonymous threatening calls.
Tom’s stalking was eventually discovered and he went to live with his mum in Saudi Arabia in 2013.
He returned to the Dales a decade later and charmed his way into Belle’s affections.
Since their marriage in February 2024, Tom has been subjecting Belle to a horrendous campaign of physical and mental abuse.
Anya could make a comeback to sort her brother out (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)
Anya King
The daughter of Carl and Colleen King and the sister of Tom King Jnr, Anya has never been a regular character, but has appeared on screen numerous times.
Anya moved with her mum to Saudi Arabia in 2010, but returned with Thomas at Christmas for her dad’s wedding to Chas. However, she left swiftly after the disastrous ceremony.
She then made her final appearance in 2012 after her father’s death. Brother Tom has mentioned her since his return, commenting that they are not close.
But could we see Anya reappear at some point soon?

Max King – the youngest son
Maxwell Harold ‘Max’ King was the youngest son of Tom and Mary King, played by Charlie Kemp.
He was the brother of Jimmy, Matthew and Carl King, as well as the half-brother of Scarlett Nicholls.
Max arrived in Emmerdale in early 2005, almost a year after the introduction of the rest of the King clan.
Unlike his money-hungry brothers, Max had zero interest in the family firm. He’d trained at university to become a vet and spent time travelling the world.
In late 2005, Tom bullied Max into helping him acquire some land by poisoning the animals that belonged to the owners.
Unable to live with the guilt of what he’d done, Max decided to flee the village – but was killed in a car crash on his way out.
He was only 25-years-old.

Scarlett Nicholls
Tom King Senior’s illegitimate daughter with Carrie Nicholls, who nursed his wife Mary as she was dying of cancer, was only revealed to her half brother’s after Tom’s death. His will revealed he had left her 25 percent of Home Farm and 10 percent of King & Sons, to be held in trust until her 18th birthday.
Scarlett was born in 1991 and met her brothers when she was 15. She became close to Jimmy and decided to stay under Jimmy’s care when Carrie emigrated to Canada. However after being betrayed by brother Carl and boyfriend Adam Barton cheated on her, Scarlett left for Canada too in 2011.
She returned after Carl’s death in 2012 and supported Jimmy during the will reading. However she then went back to Canada and hasn’t been seen since.
Scarlett was played by Kelsey-Beth Crossley.

Emmerdale tonight, and there was conclusive proof that Kim Tate really has had a total personality transplant – as she offered to move out of her own home to allow her ‘family’ to stay there…
(Or was there…?)
Kim ‘caught out’
As we joined the final episode of the week, the fighting at Home Farm continued over who had spiked Dawn’s drinks, with Billy the only one defending poor Kim.
Dawn was still absolutely convinced that Kim had spiked her Fauxsecco, leading to the head-on collision with Ella. Her motive? To try and make Rose look bad – like she needs any help – and turn everyone against her.
“Yes, I’ve behaved badly in the past but don’t judge me on that, judge me on the love I’ve shown you since we became a family,” Kim pleaded.
However, her fate appeared sealed when a man turned up at Home Farm and bellowed at Kim: “Think you can pull a fast one… that gear I sold you, I want paying.”
What no one knew – apart from Rose – was that this man was her shady contact and she’d called him in to set Kim up.
Dawn announced that her children weren’t safe in the house and, as soon as Billy was back from the hospital with Ethan, they’d be moving to a holiday let.
“Evan needs a sterile environment, I refuse to jeopardise this family’s safety,” Kim protested. “So I’ll be the one who leaves here.”
Later, Lydia found it incredulous that Kim was seemingly allowing Rose to ride rough shod over her life and self-respect.
However Kim assured her: “I’m playing the long game, whatever she is up to she’ll expose herself soon enough and when she does, I’ll pounce.”
Phew, there she is!
In Emmerdale tonight Ella had another awkward run-in with Dr Liam (Credit: ITV)
Ella’s second chance
Over at the cafe Mandy was enjoying a quiet drink – with Ella. Out of hospital, the child killer was back in the village.
Knowing that she’s pregnant, Mandy wanted to help her try and get her life onto some sort of track.
“Bit terrifying though, coming back to a place where everyone knows what I did,” Ella admitted.
And with impeccable timing, Liam walked in, demanding to know what she was doing there.
Mandy chided him for being so rude, but he hit back: “She lied to me, she deceived me in the cruelest way possible, I just don’t want her here, the sooner she’s gone, the better.”
But Mandy had other ideas, arranging an interview for the role of vet receptionist for her – which incensed Tracy who was after the same job.
When Paddy announced Ella had got the position due to having better skills, Tracy clapped back: “Skills like what, killing her best friend?”
Tracy invited Liam to support her in her protest about Ella coming back to village life but he responded: “I’ve no opinion on the matter just as long as she stays away from me.”
Will he change his mind when he learns the pregnancy news?

Tom took Belle to Wales
Meanwhile, Tom stepped up his terrifying plan to isolate Belle from her friends and family by telling her he’d booked the dream cottage in Pembrokeshire he’d recently shown her for a surprise break – and they were leaving immediately.
It meant Belle missing a special Dingle meal to cheer up Matty, but Tom kicked her right in the conscience, saying: “I thought it’d be healing for us… after the termination.”
Tom then made Belle leave her phone at home, arguing all they needed was each other and puppy Piper.
What Belle doesn’t know is that Tom has secured a second interview for the vet job in the remote Welsh countryside – and he’s planning for them to stay there…

1. Liam comes face to face with Ella
Liam is horrified when he discovers his ex-girlfriend Ella back in the village. The disgraced receptionist previously snuck back to collect her possessions, but ended up crashing her car on the way out.
Ella walked away from the smash with only cuts and bruises, but her vehicle wasn’t so lucky.
Liam is left reeling in total shock at seeing Ella again. The former lovers haven’t spoken since Liam found out that Ella killed her friend when they were just 11.
The sickening revelation brought back painful memories for Liam of his own daughter Leanna’s brutal murder. He banished Ella from Emmerdale and never expected to hear from her again.
But now she’s back and appears to be staying put. And with her pregnancy bombshell hanging over her, how long before Liam finds out the truth?
Will Liam be able to accept Ella has served her time in prison and find a way to forgive her? And how will the other locals react to having a killer living amongst them?

3. Tom isolates Belle even further
Over at Dale Head, Tom is up to his usual cruel tricks. Determined to make Belle suffer for her decision to abort their baby, Tom lays on the guilt.
But while Belle blames herself for her husband’s suffering, she’s unaware of what he has in store next.
A mix up with the spiked Champagne glass left Dawn drugged and in hospital after a car crash.
As the fallout continues, Rose has her mind on one thing – self-preservation.
Seizing the opportunity to make someone else look like the baddie, she twists the knife further. With Kim firmly in the frame, has Rose’s plan succeeded after all?

So what has happened to Belle in Emmerdale?
Spoilers for next week’s Emmerdale have revealed that Charity and Cain are very worried for Belle’s safety. And we all know they are definitely right to be!
Charity makes a discovery that Belle has missed some of her mental health appointments. With the other Dingle women thinking Charity is overreacting after the other week’s drama, she decides Cain is her best bet at being believed. Confiding in him Tom reminds her of Bails, that’s enough to make Cain sit up and take notice.
Together they break into Belle and Tom’s house. They find his surveillance equipment and her phone hidden in a drawer. Really worried now, Tom’s budget book throws up a lead to a remote Welsh cottage. So off Charity and Cain head.
It isn’t long before they’re in Wales, at the cottage. But what greets them is not a pretty sight: a trashed cottage with blood on the walls. And no sign of Belle or Tom.

Jeff Hordley hints ‘old Cain’ could be on his way back to Emmerdale – and it’s about time!
Speaking to Entertainment Daily! and other media recently, Cain Dingle actor Jeff Hordley has hinted that Cain’s violent side may make an appearance as he seeks to protect Belle from Tom.
The star teased: “Well, [Belle’s] his little sister. I think if somebody hurt his little sister in particular, there’s no saying what Cain would do.”
He then added: “He’ll do what he needs to do to be able to make things right,” when it comes to protecting Belle from Tom.
It’s fair to say Tom has really underestimated the Dingles if he thinks he can take them on and win. But does he realise quite what he’s let himself in for? Once Belle is found and the truth is out, we would not like to be in Tom’s shoes at all.

Emmerdale spoilers: Charity reveals all to Cain
Charity has been worried about Belle for a few weeks. She tried to talk to her about her marriage to Tom a while ago, but Belle shut down all Charity’s attempts to get her to open up.
Luckily for Belle, Charity hasn’t given up. She’s been keeping an eye on the younger Dingle and making sure things are okay from a distance.
So when Charity hears about Tom’s job interview in Wales, she’s not happy. And when she realises that he and Belle have gone away from the village, she frets about what’s really going on.
She can’t shake her worries, so she calls Cain and tells him that Tom reminds her of Bails – the dodgy policeman who abused her as a teenager.
Charity suffered badly at the hands of Bails, and eventually turned the tables years later as an adult when she testified against him in court and saw him banged up for what he did to her.
But she’s still haunted by his abuse which is why when she tells Cain what she sees in Tom, Cain takes her worries seriously.
In fact, the next day, when he can’t get hold of Belle either, he’s soon concerned about his younger sister, too.
Cain and Charity are frantic (Credit: ITV)
What’s going on?
Determined to work out what’s up with Belle, Charity does some digging. She calls Belle’s mental health team and she discovers that Belle’s been missing her mental health appointments. That’s definitely not a good sign!
So with both Dingles increasingly uneasy, they decide it’s time to act.
Taking matters into their own hands, they break into Tom and Belle’s house. They rummage through their belongings, determined to find out where they’ve gone.
But they’re alarmed by Tom’s surveillance equipment – creepy! And when Charity finds Belle’s phone shoved in a drawer, she’s even more concerned.

Dream holiday
Belle and Tom have gone to Wales for a break. What Belle‘s not aware of though, is that Tom’s actually planning on moving them away permanently.
She’s been walking on eggshells since she told her husband she had aborted their baby. She knows he’s unstable, aggressive, even violent, but she’s been broken by his manipulative behaviour and now it’s clear she blames herself for his abuse.
Meanwhile Tom’s determined to get his new wife away from her friends and family in Emmerdale – a common tactic used by abusers.

Emmerdale spoilers: soap airs flashbacks
The story of Belle’s torment in Wales is told in flashback as we first see Charity concerned about Belle.
Charity is uncomfortable about Tom because he reminds her of her own abuser, Bails. So when she finds out about Tom’s job interview in Wales she is really concerned.
As she does some digging and discovers Belle’s been missing her mental health appointments she’s even more worried – so she enlists the help of Belle’s big brother, Cain.
Charity and Cain break into the Kings’ house to see what they can find out. They spot all of Tom’s creepy surveillance equipment and realise, with growing horror, that Charity is totally right about what Mr King is really like.

Tracking them down!
Luckily, after a bit of rummaging, where they come across Belle’s phone stuffed in a drawer, they find out where they are. Understanding that time is of the essence, the frantic pair head off to Wales to track them down.
But when they arrive, it looks like they’re too late. The cottage Belle and Tom are staying in has been trashed, with blood on the walls, and they’re nowhere to be seen.
The action then flashes back to when the couple arrived at the cottage.
As the sun rises the pair arrive and seem happy and loved-up as they explore their holiday home.
Belle is upset to have left her phone behind because she couldn’t find it before they headed out.
Of course, it’s not long before Tom starts his manipulations. Belle though is still hopeful their holiday will get off to a good start.
But when she overhears Tom arranging to rent the cottage for longer, she’s confused.
And as the flashbacks continue we see the blissful holiday getaway turn into a terrifying ordeal for a frightened, lonely Belle.

In Emmerdale tonight (Wednesday July 3) Laurel collapsed with a suspected heart attack, sending Jai into a spin. Meanwhile, Tom worked to get Belle further away from her family than ever before.
Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight.

Laurel collapsed after arguing with Jai
Jai and Laurel were still at loggerheads, but she was also struggling with twinges. Claiming it to be indigestion, Laurel dismissed it and agreed to meet Gabby in the Woolpack for lunch.
She then insisted Jai had to tell Suni the truth today – or she would. Jai went to see Suni and a half-naked Nicky answered the door. Once we got out of our daze over Lewis Cope’s gym-honed bod, we realised Jai was stuttering and stumbling over not actually wanting to see Suni after all. He was then completely thrown by Nicky’s comment that he was very important to Suni.
Jai found Laurel in the church and told her he couldn’t tell Suni. He begged her not to make him do it. But Laurel wasn’t having it and let rip.
When Jai took a swipe at Ashley, Laurel had had enough and told him he was a “sad, horrible, weak little man,” and ordered him to leave.
But after he went she struggled to breathe and collapsed to the floor. Fortunately Gabby located her in the church and immediately called an ambulance.
Over at The Hide, Jai was trying to talk to Suni, but Gabby’s persistent calls distracted him. When he eventually answered and found out what had happened, he rushed off – without having told Suni anything.
Laurel was being wheeled into an ambulance when Jai arrived and Manpreet explained they thought she’d had a heart attack. Suni reassured Jai Laurel was going to be okay, but he wasn’t so sure…

Tom isolated Belle in Emmerdale tonight
Also in Wednesday’s episode Tom tried to play the nice guy encouraging Belle to make amends with Charity. Charity later saw Belle and Piper out for a walk and told her: “You’ll always be our family.” Belle stormed off again, but Charity insisted she wasn’t going anywhere and would always be there if she wanted to talk.
Meanwhile, Tom was having a Zoom job interview where he was told the job was “extremely isolated”. He insisted his wife was really keen to move somewhere so out of the way as she wanted the quiet life.
He then told Belle they should go away on holiday and suggested Wales. He showed her a cottage miles away from anywhere and she agreed it would be “perfect”.
Perfect for him to gain total control, you mean Belle? Sure. Perfect.

Sarah flirted with Josh
At the garage Sarah was fixing Josh’s car and he got a little bit friendly. Turns out she quite likes the bad boy as she fluttered her eyelashes, but Moira broke the moment when she sent Josh on his way.
However, Josh later returned and wanted to treat her to lunch. Sarah agreed, but as they were leaving Moira and Cain arrived. Cain told him to push off.
Sarah told him he was embarrassing, she then laid into Cain and Moira and defended Josh. She insisted Matty “had the knife and stabbed Samson” so it wasn’t Josh’s fault. Cain did not look happy.

Charles and Caleb bonded in Emmerdale tonight
Upset Charles got a phone call telling him the police were dropping the investigation into Ethan’s hit and run. He told Manpreet he was going to talk to a lawyer before storming out in a state.
Caleb was listening in on what is clearly good news for him and Ruby. So he did the logical thing and took Ruby to the Woolpack to celebrate being in the clear. She felt very uncomfortable with the idea as she struggled with her guilt.
Charles was also drinking himself silly in the Woolpack. Ruby couldn’t handle it and left, so Caleb asked Charles to join him. He then took Charles home. Something which Ruby was NOT happy about. Will Caleb regret his latest move?

A new dawn has arrived in Emmerdale as producer Sophie Roper has stepped in to take over. And she’s got a lot of exciting storylines up her sleeve to shake the show up.
Working alongside Laura Shaw, who has been there for many years, Sophie has revealed to Entertainment Daily and other media that they have “got some brilliant storylines happening at the minute”. And the drama is set to continue over summer and into the new year.
Fancy some teasers about what we can look forward to? Of course you do! Over to Sophie.

The Dingles take centre stage
If you want drama in Emmerdale then you need look no further than the Dingle clan. There’s A LOT going on with them right now, including Samson being stabbed by Matty and of course the horror of Belle’s abuse at the hands of Tom.
But why stop there? Why not throw even more at them? That’s exactly what Sophie and co are planning.
“The Dingles have been at the heart of the show for 30 years and will continue to be so,” said Sophie. “But as many of you will know we lost Steve Halliwell (who played Zak Dingle) recently.”
Steve Halliwell, who died in December 2023, had played Zak Dingle since the 1990s. And now Emmerdale are going to mark his death in the best possible way.
“We’re going to be marking Zak’s passing in the coming months with a Dingle funeral. It will be very difficult for a lot of people who work on the show and the viewers who have loved Zak for many years, but it’ll be a hugely fitting tribute to such an iconic character.”

Tom’s abuse leaves Belle in terrible danger
As well as the devastation of her dad’s death, Belle will also face more terror at the hands of her abusive husband Tom.
Sophie explained: “We have a special episode coming up, that sees Tom and Belle head off to Wales on a trip away together.
“But set to the backdrop of this beautiful cottage, is a hard-hitting, difficult story. Tom is isolating Belle from her family, her surroundings, everything she knows and loves, which is very much a typical trait of abusers.”

Emmerdale producer reveals a Dingle wedding
It is not all doom and gloom – for once – in the Dales as a Dingle wedding is coming up. And it’s not just any Dingle wedding, it’s Mandy Dingle’s wedding, so we know it’s going to be big, bright and lots of fun.
And Sophie has teased exactly that: “We’ve had Mandy’s dress made in-house by one of our dressmakers – it’s going to be very Mandy, very big, very fun!”

John Sugden comes to town
As well as new Emmerdale producer Sophie revealing there will be some returning characters she also announced a new face. And that face belongs to former Coronation Street star Oliver Farnworth. The Andy Carver actor will be arriving as John Sugden. No, we’ve never heard of him before either, but it’s about time the iconic Sugden family was beefed up.
“The Sugdens, just like the Dingles are an iconic family group and we’re keen to cement them back in the show,” Sophie explained. “John will bring lots of drama to the Dales, which I’m going to keep tight-lipped about for now.”

More from Caleb and Ruby promises new Emmerdale producer
Caleb and Ruby might not have been around for a long time, but they’ve definitely made their mark. And we’re set to find out even more about their past when someone else arrives.
Sophie explained: “We’re going to see a blast from their past come back and give us more info about this complicated relationship between husband and wife, and the complicated family dynamics we have there.”
Ella will be back (Credit: ITV)
Ella is back
We may have thought Ella had gone for good after her child-killer secret was revealed. Liam cast her out, Manpreet didn’t want to know and Ella realised there was no place for her in the village any more.
But Sophie assures that isn’t the last we’ve seen of her: “Ella will continue in the show but her past will continue to haunt her.
“Will she ever get her happy ever after? And can she ever escape the past that’s led her to this point?”
Don’t forget the stunts!
Of course Emmerdale is known for its super-stunts and that won’t change under Sophie’s leadership.
“We have some stunts filming this week,” Sophie teased. Although she did not reveal exactly what the stunts would involve she added: “There will be fire engines. It’s an explosive week of Emmerdale!”
