Next week’s Emmerdale spoilers reveal that Charity Dingle has finally realised Tom King is not the all-singing, all-dancing perfect husband he claims to be. Her suspicions lead her to push Belle into revealing the truth, but Belle snaps – and hits out at the wrong person.
Afraid of her husband and a shell of herself, Belle stands her ground and rejects any offers of help.
As the other Dingle women start to suspect Charity is the one with the problem, can she make them see it’s not her, it’s him?

Emmerdale spoilers: Charity spots the signs
After Belle is tricked into leaving Tom, she soon feels under pressure by Charity, Chas, Mandy and Lydia. They bombard her with questions over her relationship with Tom. Charity is particularly ferocious and pushes Belle to be honest.
However, the overwhelming line of questioning only succeeds in angering Belle. She storms out, but Charity is nothing if not persistent and follows her.
Trying a different tack – one of kindness rather than aggression, which is new to Charity – she gently asks Belle to tell her the truth. It’s clear Belle is wavering as she tears up. However then her controller rears his ugly head.

Belle lashes out
Suddenly spotting Tom approaching Belle is thrown into a panic. It all-but confirms Charity’s suspicions Belle is afraid of her husband.
But Belle has shut down. She aggressively shoves Charity out of the way and rushes off home in a complete panic. Charity goes to follow her, but Tom won’t have it.
Charity is left fuming – and more suspicious than ever – as Tom stops her following Belle. He insists that his wife is struggling with her mental health and demands that Charity leave her alone.
Will Belle ever tell? (Credit: ITV)
Has Charity missed her chance?
Back at the Woolpack, the other Dingle women think that Charity might be overreacting. Charity is fuming and has to leave the room due to her frustration.
Worried she’s missed her chance to make them understand Belle is in serious trouble, can she find a way to make the family see it too?
Meanwhile, Tom is plotting once again. He wants Belle all to himself so he can exert complete control. The Dingles living in the same village makes that virtually impossible, so he sets about scheming to move him and Belle to a very, very isolated part of Wales.
Charity needs to step on it to save Belle in time. But can she do it?

Charity was desperate to help Belle in Emmerdale tonight, but Tom was there just getting in the way again.
Meanwhile, Cain and Moira finally put their differences aside – here’s what happened in Emmerdale tonight (Monday July 1).
The Dingle women mean business (Credit: ITV)
The Dingle women try to save Belle
The opening scene saw the strong Dingle women of Emmerdale – Chas, Charity and Lydia – striding down the street. And they meant business (except Mandy, who was late).
Meanwhile wifey Belle was fussing over Tom at home, making him a bacon butty and checking she hadn’t made his tea too milky.
Belle protested when the ladies arrived to whisk her away for a girly day. She insisted she couldn’t leave Tom, but Charity had thought of that and brought out Jimmy and Paddy to ‘babysit’.
Still, Belle protested, but Charity told Tom to give his permission. Flashing his winning smile Tom said: “Ooh she don’t need permission from me.” Of course, we all know she does – and so does Belle who was even more reluctant. But they dragged her out as Tom’s face darkened.
Cain and Moira at loggerheads – still – in Emmerdale tonight
Over at Butlers, things between Moira and Cain were still tense. And when Cain admitted he went to see Matty and broke the news Matty now had a cellmate it escalated further. Rather than being grateful Cain had imparted wisdom on her son, she instead was furious Cain hadn’t told her this before now.
Back at the Woolpack, Belle was having her nails done, believing they were all there to cheer Lydia up. Charity eventually admitted she’d revealed Belle’s miscarriage news and Belle tried to leave.
Charity did not want to try the softly softly approach, she used a very loud and shouty voice as she tried to reason with Belle that she wasn’t herself.
Things were equally as awkward at Tom’s as he snapped at Jimmy for asking about the miscarriage. But when Paddy and Jimmy joked the girls would be comparing notes about their blokes, Tom panicked.
At the Woolie, Belle was opening up about her ‘miscarriage’ but once again Charity was mouthing off. Chas decided to take Charity aside and warn her to calm down and go gently.
Elsewhere, as Cain and Moira were mid-yet-another argument, tearful Isaac ran in: “It’s Minty, he’s dead,” he sobbed. What is it with Emmerdale at the moment – first Tom’s abuse of Piper the dog and now a dead lamb?

Charity tries to get through to Belle
With Charity getting more and more wound up, Tom interrupted the proceedings by calling Belle. She took the call outside and Charity followed before snatching the phone and hanging up on Tom.
Charity edged closer to the truth as she insisted: “He’s keeping tabs on you…” Belle firmly said he wasn’t, but Charity knew and begged her to open up.
Meanwhile, Tom decided they needed to go over, but Paddy and Jimmy insisted he leave it. They even took his phone to stop him doing anything.
Tom was getting more and more frustrated – and we all know what happens when he gets frustrated…
Charity was still shouting as she laid into Belle telling her Tom was making her dependent on him. Charity even said Tom was to blame for Belle’s recent relapse – but Belle told her to back off.
Back to the saddest story of the night – Minty’s death. Poor Isaac was so sad about his dead lamb. Even Moira was in tears.
And then cut to more shouting from Charity: “Belle we are worried sick about you. If you are with the wrong man and he’s making you miserable you need to tell us.”
Here’s her chance, but did she take it? Nope. Instead she defended Tom and told Charity she had lost the plot. Sigh.

Tom gets his way in Emmerdale tonight
Jimmy was drunk as a skunk so Tom used the opportunity to suggest heading over to the Woolie for a drink. And at that moment, Charity was finally getting through to Belle.
However as she fell into Charity’s hug, Belle spotted Tom, shoved Charity away aggressively and ran off. Charity tried to follow, but Tom stopped her.
“You need to stay away,” he shouted. He then explained Belle is struggling with her mental health and accused Belle of lashing out at him. “If I need your help, I will ask,” he said. “But other than that, stay away.”
Charity was forced to watch him go, but it was very clear she didn’t believe a word he said.
Death brings them back together (Credit: ITV)
Moira and Cain reunite at last!
At the farm, the fallout from Minty’s death produced one positive outcome: the reunion of Cain and Moira, who promised to support each other rather than argue. Hallelujah. It’s just a shame poor Minty had to die for them to realise they’re better together than against each other.
Back at the Woolpack, Charity was still shouting the odds. But Chas, Mandy and Lydia were starting to doubt her. They accused her of being obsessed.
Meanwhile, Belle was stressed and decided on a detoxifying bath. Tom then made a phone call confirming he was very interested in a job interview that would mean relocating. “Wales sounds perfect,” he said to the person on the other end, before smiling smugly.
Looks like Belle’s missed opportunity might come back to haunt her…

Soapland is known for a good cameo and Emmerdale is not different! In fact, when it comes to Emmerdale, there seem to have been more famous faces visiting the Dale than have popped into Weatherfield or Walford.
Here’s our round up of all the familiar faces you may have spotted over the years!

Celebrity chefs cameo in Emmerdale
Marlon Dingle’s vocation in the kitchen has led to some celebrity encounters. In 2005, he met Aldo Zilli at a cookery competition and Antony Worrall Thompson showed up in 2008 when the Woolpack was nominated as Pub of the Year.
Antony tried to tempt Marlon to become a TV chef but he decided to stay put!

Pop stars in Emmerdale
Emmerdale’s regular village events mean there have been lots of opportunities for popstars to visit.
Who can forget the tragic episode featuring Katherine Jenkins? She was closing the Emmerdale pageant in 2007, singing Time to Say Goodbye, as Len Reynolds died from a heart attack and was driven away. SOB!
Happier cameos include The Proclaimers and Scouting for Girls. They performed at a festival at Home Farm, organised by Declan Macey and his sister Megan, in 2012. The special episodes were part of the celebrations for Emmerdale’s 40th anniversary.
In 2001, teen hearthrob Marti Pellow serenaded Kathy Glover at her leaving party, while in 2005, Diane Sugden fessed up to having a fling with Tony Christie when he dedicated a song to her in his concert.
And Spice Girl Mel B was an extra on Emmerdale before making it big as Scary Spice!

Sports people
We all know Yorkshire’s not short of sporting legends and there have a been a few cameos from all kinds of champions since the show began.
Chris Kamara was “unbelievable” when his football team took on Bear’s back in 2019! And in 2014, Olympic cyclist Victoria Pendleton visited the village, as a nod to the Tour de France which started in Yorkshire that year.

And there’s more sporting cameos in Emmerdale
Winding the clock back further, rugby star Martin Offiah arrived in 1996 to play a ‘friendly’ charity match with some of the drinkers from the Woolpack. He even managed to send Mandy Dingle flying when he scored a try!
And in 1995 Hunter from Gladiators took part in a village tug of war!
That same year Ian Botham opened the newly refurbished Woolpack, while fellow cricketer Fred Trueman appeared in the show back in 1987.
Meanwhile before she won gold at the Olympics, Nicola Adams worked as an extra. She appeared in Coronation Street and Emmerdale but once she’d won her medal she had to retire from being a background artist because she was too recognisable!
The Vivienne took Emmerdale by storm! (Credit: ITV)
Other famous faces who have had an Emmerdale cameo
Doctor Who star Colin Baker appeared in an episode in 2021 as Diane Sugden’s date. While actor and dad of Cherie Blair, Tony Booth was in Emmerdale in 2007. He played a homeless man called Errol, who may or may not have been a ghost. No, we don’t remember that either. Perhaps we’ve blocked it out?!

Dancing on Ice faves Torvill and Dean appeared in 2023 (Credit: ITV)
Most recently, Torvill and Dean showed off their ice dancing skills for evil abuser Tom King (if only they’d known what he was really like, eh?) as Belle proposed on the ice.

Emmerdale star Emma Atkins has revealed that Charity will finally cotton on to the truth that not all is well with Belle and Tom. In fact, she has teased Charity could be Tom’s downfall. Hallelujah!
The actress states it’s all down to her own personal history with evil DI Bails. That’s what makes Charity realise something is up. But as she pressures Belle to reveal all, can she get to the truth and help Belle?
We really hope so!

Charity’s suspicions of Tom grow – and it’s about time
In upcoming Emmerdale spoilers, Charity is growing very concerned about Belle’s behaviour. She wants Belle to open up and tries to get the other Dingle women – Chas, Lydia and Mandy to help her. But the safe space turns toxic when the questions about her marriage overwhelm Belle and she rushes out.
Charity follows and won’t let it lie, determined to get her to open up. But emotional Belle sees Tom approaching and violently pushes Charity away before running off.
Tom spins yet another tall tale that Belle is struggling with her mental health – and everyone apart from Charity buys it. But with the Dingles taking Tom’s side, has Charity missed her chance to prove it?
Tom then sets about planning to take Belle to a remote part of Wales – he tells her it’s just a holiday, but actually he is interviewing for a job there. He knows Charity is suspicious and if he wants to keep control he has to get Belle away from her family as soon as possible.

Emmerdale star Emma Atkins says ‘Charity’s on to Tom’
Emma Atkins, who plays Charity, has revealed Charity knows exactly what Tom’s game is – and it’s all thanks to men like DI Bails. Charity was abused and raped by Bails and eventually saw him convicted years after the fact.
Now, as an adult, she knows the signs and knows what to look out for. Her one problem? Getting everyone else to see them too.
Referring to Charity’s past experience with Bails, Emma told Entertainment Daily: “I felt that if anyone was going to recognise those signs of abuse, it probably would be Charity, because she’s lived and breathed it in her past. She starts to notice behavioural changes in Belle.”
Emma then went on to say: “She’s on to him [Tom], and I think that’s going to excite the audience in a way, because everybody’s saying ‘when is he going to get found out?’ So I think they’ll enjoy the fact that someone’s on to him, finally!”
So far, Charity’s efforts have amounted to nothing – but then we know she doesn’t let anything get in her way usually. In Charity versus Tom, we know who our money’s on!

Eden Taylor-Draper is best known to millions as Emmerdale’s Belle King (nee Dingle). The Yorkshire lass joined the soap in 2005 at the tender age of eight when she took over the part from Emily Mather.
Viewers have watched Belle – and Eden – grow up on screen.
During her two decades on Emmerdale, Belle has been at the centre of several major storylines, including a battle with schizophrenia, an illicit affair with a married doctor, faking a pregnancy and the tragic loss of her mum, Lisa Dingle.
Eden is no stranger to acting out tough scenes, but this year has been particularly challenging as Belle has found herself trapped in an abusive marriage to new husband Tom.
The once bubbly businesswoman has found herself on the receiving end of Tom’s jealous temper as he’s attempted to control every aspect of her life.
Thankfully life away from the cameras is a far happier one for Eden. Here is everything you need to know about the star.

Who is Eden Taylor-Draper and how old is she?
Eden Taylor-Draper is a British actress who plays Emmerdale’s Belle King. She was born on 28 October 1997, making her 26-years-old.
Eden grew up in the market town of Selby, which is situated in North Yorkshire. It is around 30 minutes from where the soap is filmed.
Eden’s real-life family is as close as her on-screen one.
She’s the eldest of five, and her parents Nicola and Richard also have son Sebastian and daughters Pollyanna, Francesca and Posy.

Eden Taylor-Draper as Belle Dingle in Emmerdale
Eden plays wedding planner Belle King (nee Dingle). Born Tinkerbelle Lisa ‘Belle’ Dingle, she’s the youngest daughter of Zak Dingle and the only child of his late wife, Lisa Dingle.
She has six half-siblings – Nathan, the late Ben and Butch, Sam, Cain and Tina Dingle.
Belle has lived her whole life in the village, being born and raised in Wishing Well Cottage.
The character made her first appearance on Christmas Day 1998. Viewers have watched Belle grow from a tiny baby to a smart and accomplished businesswoman.
Belle was originally played by twins Emily and James Mather. James stopped appearing in 2000 and Emily in 2005 when Eden took over the role.
Belle’s journey has been nothing short of dramatic.
Her storylines have included a surviving a near-fatal fall down a mineshaft, accidentally killing her best friend, an affair with a married man, faking a pregnancy and battle with schizophrenia.
In February 2024, Belle married her ex-boyfriend and village vet, Thomas King. The pair originally dated as teenagers and reconnected when Tom returned to the village after several years living abroad.
Sadly, married life has got off to the worst start for Belle. Tom has revealed himself to be a jealous and controlling bully. The vet has subjected his wife to appalling physical and mental abuse, including deliberately burning her hand.
Although becoming increasingly more aware of Tom’s actions, Belle has been manipulated into believing she’s the one responsible.
What else has Eden Taylor-Draper been in?
Emmerdale is Eden’s first professional acting gig.
In 2007, at the age of nine, she appeared in a short film titled The Cardiac Oak.

She supported her sister through cancer
In 2017, Eden’s family went through the toughest of times when her young sister Francesca was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
Eden took a break from work so she could be by Francesca’s side while she underwent treatment at hospital.
Speaking to The Mirror in 2020, Eden revealed: “Chessie [her nickname for Francesca] had her bed and I had a little bed next to her.
“Mornings would be a snuggle, cup of tea and re-runs of Come Dine With Me. I tried to keep Chess as cosy as possible. We’d always say love you before bed, and that everything would be okay.”
Thankfully, Francesca is now in remission. The life-changing experience prompted Eden to become an ambassador for Teenage Cancer Trust.
She’s also taken part in the Great North Run for Bloodwise, a UK charity that raises funds into research for all blood cancers.
Belle’s love life might have turned into a living nightmare, but Eden’s couldn’t be more different. The actress has been in a relationship with her high school sweetheart, Ed Lewis, for eight years.
The cute couple first met while they were both pupils at Harrogate Grammar School. Ed, who’s not in the showbiz industry, frequently appears on Eden’s social media account.
Eden looked every inch the proud girlfriend in 2019 when she accompanied Ed to his graduation at Durham University, where he achieved a first class honours degree in geography.
The couple also regularly share gorgeous photographs of their travels together, including summer breaks to Italy and Croatia and a festive getaway in Austria.

Her Emmerdale co-stars are like family
Eden is super close to her Emmerdale co-stars and has come to consider many of them as her second family.
Despite there being 23 years between her and Emma Atkins (aka Charity Dingle), Eden says their unbreakable bond makes it feel like they’re the same age and more like sisters.
Eden also regularly hangs out with Isabel Hodgins (Victoria Sugden), Daisy Campbell (Amelia Spencer) and Jessie Elland (who played Chloe Harris).
And in 2023, the four friends started their own book club called Rather Be Reading so they could discuss their favourite reads.

Tom King in Emmerdale is quickly becoming one of the show’s nastiest baddies ever as he torments his new wife Belle Dingle.
It’s hard to believe it’s less than a year since he arrived in the village to take the job at the vet’s, much to the surprise of the Emmerdale residents who knew him when he was younger.
So what’s Tom’s story? Here’s the lowdown on his shocking behaviour towards his wife – and his dodgy family background that means the way he’s treating poor Belle isn’t really a surprise!

Tom King arrives in Emmerdale
Tom, who called himself Thomas back then, arrived in the village in 2004 with his sister Anya. They were Carl King’s kids, with his ex-wife Colleen. And we have to be honest – they were pretty troublesome!
But what do you expect?
In case you’d forgotten, the whole King clan were pretty murky and Carl was the worst of the lot. He was a cheat and he murdered his own dad – who was also called Tom.
Not a nice person!
The older Tom King was also a master manipulator, his son Matthew was ruthless, and even Jimmy – the only surviving one of the four King brothers – has his dark side.

Tom and Anya
So Tom and his younger sister came and went a few times, between 2004 and 2009, flitting between visiting their dad and their mum.
Then they came back again for their dad’s engagement to Lexi Nicholls. By 2010, they were staying in the village full time as their mum had to care for their injured stepfather – though they were still up to no good, and caused trouble for Edna Birch, and Ashley and Laurel Thomas.
Later Anya and Tom went to live in Saudi Arabia with their mum. But it wasn’t long before Tom returned, this time for his dad’s wedding to Chas Dingle.
The wedding ended in drama when Chas jilted Carl at the altar, knowing he’d been cheating with Eve Jenson. Carl and Tom both went to to Saudi Arabia.

Tom King hits out over Carl’s murder in Emmerdale
When Carl was murdered by Cameron Murray, at first everyone – including Chas herself – believed she was the killer. Chas was even in prison for a while. She’d hit Carl over the head with a brick when he tried to rape her – but it was serial killer Cameron who finished him off!
Cain told Tom the truth about his dad. He was upset and blurted out that his dad was a rapist at the funeral service.
It was Edna, who Tom had previously tormented, who gave the troubled teen a shoulder to cry on.

Tom King the stalker
In early 2013 Chas Dingle’s life was made a misery by a creepy stalker who was sending her photos of her and Carl in the post, with her eyes scratched out. She was getting dodgy phone calls and generally her life was miserable.
And it turned out her stalker was Tom King, who’d secretly come back to Emmerdale!
He told everyone he wanted revenge on Chas for killing his dad – as everyone still believed to be true at the time – and persuaded his Uncle Jimmy to let him stay in the village.
Tom and Belle part one
Belle had a thumping great crush on Tom and even posed for provocative pics to entice him. They shared a kiss at Sandy Thomas’s 80th birthday party, but Belle’s parents, and Jimmy and Nicola weren’t happy about the romance.
So of course the teenagers found a way to see each other anyway! And when the truth was revealed – thanks to Tom kissing Belle in front of her furious dad, Zak – they decided to run away.

Runaway lovers!
The pair stole Dan’s camper van and fled. But Belle’s mum Lisa was convinced Tom had abducted Belle, and reported him to the police.
When Belle told Tom that his dad was in the van the night he died, he got upset and drove back to the village. Belle went home, but Tom drove away again. The van was found at the airport and later Jimmy discovered Tom had gone back to his mum in Saudi Arabia.
And that was the last we heard of Tom King until he showed up in the village again last year.
If only the Dingles had remembered Tom’s past history with their family, instead of welcoming him into their lives again with open arms, eh?!
Things haven’t worked out as Belle hoped (Credit: ITV)
Tom’s abuse of Belle
Viewers have watched in horror as Tom’s controlling and punishing treatment of Belle has grown increasingly sinister and violent.
He’s turned poor Belle into a shadow of herself, doubting her own instincts and terrified of her husband. And now he knows Belle terminated her pregnancy, he’s planning revenge. He wants to drag her off to the deepest depths of Wales to isolate her even further.
Belle has realised the extent of his abuse, but will she find the courage to act on it?
Who plays Tom King in Emmerdale?
Tom is played by actor James Chase. When he first arrived in the noughties as a small boy, he was played first by Jack Ferguson, then by Connor Hill.
When Tom – who then called himself Thomas – came back to Emmerdale as a troubled teenager for a longer stint, he was played by Mark Flanagan.
Emmerdale usually airs weeknights on ITV at 7.30pm.
Classic Emmerdale usually airs every weekday on ITV3 at 6am and 6.30am, plus 1.30pm and 2.05pm.
Emmerdale spoilers for next week reveal that Tom King has another evil plot up his sleeve: to get Belle as far away from the village – and the Dingles – as possible. And for good.
Belle has already gone behind his back and had an abortion and now Charity is growing suspicious of their relationship. Tom can’t handle this loss of control and immediately sets about rectifying the situation.
As he applies for a job in an extremely isolated part of Wales, he insists his wife would love the peace and quiet. But what he actually means is he would love the opportunity to have complete control over everything.
Will Tom succeed in completely isolating Belle from her family and friends?

Charity pushes for info
Growing worried by Belle‘s recent behaviour, Charity, Chas, Mandy and Lydia round her up, take her to the Woolpack and question her about her marriage. But Belle can’t hack it and angrily storms off.
Charity won’t let it go though and like a dog with a bone, chases her outside the pub and demands answers. She does change tack slightly, softening and asking Belle to be honest. But as Belle starts to cry, Tom arrives. Perfect timing.
Desperate not to make her husband angry – because we all know what happens when he gets angry – Belle acts quickly and impulsively. She shoves Charity violently out of the way and rushes off.
Charity tries to follow, but Tom insists she doesn’t move. He tells her his wife is struggling with her mental health. Tom demands that Charity leave Belle alone. But knowing Charity, that’s not likely!
Meanwhile, the other women worry that Charity overreacted. Has she missed her chance to prove she’s right about Tom?

Tom plots to leave in Emmerdale spoilers
Knowing Charity won’t let it lie, Tom knows he has to act fast. He heads back home and is soon seen making a phone call. He tells the person on the other end of the line that he wants to interview for a job… in Wales.
The next day, Tom is suited and booted for an online interview. He is warned that the job he’s applying for is in a very remote part of Wales.
He tells the interviewer that it’s fine – that Belle would love to move there. In fact, the further away from life in the village – and her family – the better. For Tom, that is, not Belle.
When Belle appears, Tom turns on the charm and offers to take her on holiday to a beautiful cottage in the stunning Welsh countryside. Stunning it might be, but the company leaves a lot to be desired.
However, Tom is of course able to manipulate Belle into going for the idea and he is thrilled to see his plan is coming together. Will he manage to get her away from her family – and totally under his control for good?

Tom King in Emmerdale is one evil guy. Controlling and abusing wife Belle, he is becoming more and more intense as he tries to make sure she is totally and utterly under his spell.
We know there’s even more to come as producer Laura Shaw has confirmed the storyline will run until the end of the year.
And actor James Chase has some thoughts on exactly what he thinks should happen – and how Tom should get his comeuppance.
Tom is awful (Credit: ITV)
James Chase knows Tom ‘has a shelf life’
James Chase revealed to Entertainment Daily that he always knew Tom has a “shelf life”.
He added: “He can’t get away with it.”
James is very clear that Belle needs to see her husband punished for what he’s put her through.
“She needs justice for what happened to her and I think also the viewer needs that. From all the hell we’ve seen Belle get put through, we have to see her win in the end or at the very least, for him to lose.”
James continued to say Tom needs to go to “prison at least”. But he also revealed he is keen for his sister to return to the village. Tom’s sibling, Anya, hasn’t been seen or mentioned much since his return. However James has admitted: “I’ve always wondered about his sister.
“It would be interesting to see how he’d react to that. Obviously he’s said in the past that he isn’t that close to her anyway but it would be interesting just to see how he would react and if it would change anything in anyway.”
Does Anya know something about Tom’s behaviour? Is that why he keeps her at arm’s length? And could she be the key to exposing Belle?

Tom King’s abuse of Belle in Emmerdale
Belle is a shell of her former self since marrying Tom. She realised on her wedding night she had made a terrible mistake after his nasty outburst about her family. She ended up sleeping on the sofa.
However, Belle has desperately been trying to make it work and keep the peace. Constantly giving in to him and never standing up to him, Belle has allowed him to control every aspect of her life. He has stopped her working, is isolating her from her family and has even sold her car and taken control of their finances.
Recently, Belle found out she was pregnant. She hadn’t wanted to start a family yet – knowing Tom is not the ideal dad and also fearing for her own mental health. Tom, however, is desperate to be a father and despite Belle’s pleas to keep the news quiet, of course announced it to anyone who’d listen.
Belle knew she couldn’t go through with the pregnancy and made an appointment at an abortion clinic. She discovered Tom was tracking her every move so realised she had to be cunning to keep her termination plans a secret.
But can she cover her tracks enough? Or will she get caught out in the end? And what will Tom do when he does find out?

Emmerdale viewers have been rightly outraged over Tom King‘s abusive behaviour – but some have been more concerned about Piper the dog than victim Belle!
Physically abusive and emotionally controlling and manipulative, we’re all agreed Tom is not a nice guy. But Belle is continuing to stay in the marriage – we’re not sure whether it’s out of love or fear, but she is determined not to let her mask slip.
However, having now discovered she’s pregnant, Belle is devastated. Knowing there are so many reasons they can’t bring a baby into their lives, Belle has decided on a termination. But isn’t planning to tell Tom who is happily delivering the ‘good’ news to anyone who will listen.

Tom hurts Piper in Emmerdale
Viewers have watched in complete horror as Tom used Piper to exert even more control over his wife. He didn’t like the fact his plot to make Belle think her mental health was at risk went wrong.
Tom managed to convince her she had forgotten to take her meds, but instead of him then controlling her pills, she decided to check into a mental health unit for support. She also refused to let him visit or call.
This obviously made him furious and he decided there was only one way he could get her back under his thrall – hurt Piper.
Fans were aghast – far more so than over anything he’d done to Belle – as he injected Piper with medication that made it seem like she was very sick. When Lydia saw the poor pup, she revealed to Belle that it didn’t look like Piper would pull through.
Belle, of course, immediately checked herself out of hospital then rushed home to find Piper had miraculously made a full recovery. Tom then manipulated Belle into believing it was due to her absence that Piper was so sick and now she was home, the dog felt better.
He is EVIL.

Emmerdale fans complained in their hundreds
The scenes saw more than 850 horrified fans complain about the storyline’s dark twist. However the soap used their social media to assure viewers that Minnie, who plays Piper, was fit and well!
And the complaints haven’t been enough of a warning for show bosses to back off Piper as producer Laura Shaw has said the pooch is still in the firing line.
“Piper will definitely have a future role in the story,” Laura has warned when speaking to Entertainment Daily! and other media.
“It’s research-led,” she explained. “One of the things that we’ve found was that that is what abusers use. They will use family pets, people that you love, they will use them as weapons against you. So, this is all based on research. I promise you it’s not just us being mean to the dog for the sake of it.”
Doesn’t make it okay though! Poor Piper.
Emmerdale usually airs weeknights on ITV at 7.30pm.

In next week’s Emmerdale spoilers Belle will decide to leave Tom and viewers will be cheering with relief.
However, Tom has learnt about Belle’s abortion and is going apoplectic with rage. He’s about to do some serious damage to himself and it could put paid to Belle’s plans to flee for good.

Belle realises she has to leave
Things are really bad for Belle as she continues to try and hide the truth about her abortion. She has told Tom she’s had a miscarriage and he is devastated. And, predictably, subtly placing the blame firmly at Belle’s door.
Next week, Belle has an appointment with her Mental Health Care Coordinator, Rachel. When Rachel arrives at the house Belle is initially reluctant to open up. However she soon finds herself confessing that she told Tom she had a miscarriage rather than an abortion.
As the session goes on, Belle worries that Rachel is beginning to realise the extent of Tom’s controlling behaviour. Belle wants Rachel to leave before she uncovers what really goes on behind closed doors, but Rachel is a professional and knows how to get to the truth.
Rachel then encourages Belle to take a break from Tom. Belle is terrified but realises that Rachel is speaking sense.
As she makes plans to leave her abusive husband, it looks like Belle might finally get away. Except for the fact across the village a catastrophe is about to stop her…

Emmerdale spoilers: Tom finds out the truth
Tom’s determined to find a reason why Belle lost the baby and when he speaks to Noah he finds out Belle did not go for a walk with Piper and Amelia. Tom is fuming that his wife lied to him, especially when he learns Belle had an appointment in town. It all suddenly comes together (wonder if it’s anything to do with that parking ticket?) and Tom realises what really happened: Belle had an abortion.
It’s unclear whether he’s more upset that she took control of something or that the baby is gone, but either way he goes mad. He is in one of Moira’s barns and he starts smashing it up with rage. Isn’t it about time she set her cows on him?!
As Tom grabs an iron bar, he swings it back and accidentally hits the the barn’s rotary isolator behind him.
The ensuing electric shock sends Tom flying across the barn and into a beam. He hits the ground, unconscious or worse…

Back at home Belle has very nearly got away. Her bags are packed, she’s called a taxi and is on her way to see Debbie in Scotland. Yay!
Will Belle make it out of the village in time? And what has Tom done to himself?
