In recent Emmerdale scenes, Belle turned up to court at the last minute and exclaimed that she was ready to tell her story, and fans couldn’t be more thrilled!
It’s been a tough year for Belle, having suffered physical abuse and coercive control at the hands of husband Tom King. She eventually found the courage to leave Tom and report him, but that wasn’t the end of her ordeal.
It was touch and go whether Tom would get his way, especially when it appeared that Belle was a no show at court. However, she delighted fans when she arrived at the last minute.

Tom to face justice
The list of Tom’s crimes against Belle is endless. From holding her hand under scolding water and poisoning her dog to locking her in the house and punching her – poor Belle has been through it.
All the while, Tom used gaslighting to make Belle believe she was to blame or that she had misunderstood the situation. He also tried his best to alienate her from her family in order to make her rely on him.
Earlier in the week, Tom was rushed to hospital after apparently trying to take his own life. The incident left Belle feeling guilty and doubting if she should give evidence at the trial.
Fortunately, Belle saw sense. In Wednesday’s episode (December 18), after her family spent ages trying to track her down, Belle arrived at court at the last minute declaring: “It’s time to tell my story”. Go, Belle!

Fans thrilled as Belle arrives in court
Fans took to social media to express their joy at Belle’s court arrival. “Phew! Belle has made it to the court! You’re screwed now Tom,” wrote one viewer on X. Another added: “Oh well done Belle, tell the court what an abuser Tom really is.”
Over on Instagram, another fan wrote: “Thank goodness Belle turned up to wipe that smug smile off his face.”
A fourth fan admitted to feeling emotional over the episode, writing: “I knew that Belle would turn up, but I had tears in my eyes when she did.”
A fifth fan said: “What a fab ending !! Come on Belle you can do this !!!” With a sixth adding: “YESSSS BELLE!!! I KNEW IN MY HEART SHE’D TURN UP!!”

In Emmerdale spoilers tonight, Tom’s court case take place. Will Belle get the justice she deserves?
Tom King has been doing everything in his power to sway the odds in his favour. Last week, he had Angelica share a video in which she slagged off Tom. He then tried to use this to stop the trial – claiming the jury wouldn’t be impartial after seeing the video.
After that plot failed, Tom faked a suicide attempt. This almost had the desired effect when Belle felt guilty, but yesterday’s episode saw her arrive at court to give evidence at the last minute.
In today’s episode, Tom has to face the music. Read below for full Emmerdale spoilers for tonight (Thursday, December 19.)

Emmerdale spoilers tonight 1. The court case gets under way
Tom was in hospital earlier in the week after apparently attempting to take his own life. However, the whole thing was another of his schemes. This one very nearly worked, too, as both Jimmy and Amelia felt sorry for Tom. Belle also felt guilty and started to have second thoughts about testifying.
During yesterday’s episode (Wednesday, December 18), Tom was full on smug. When Belle failed to show, he declared it was his ‘time to shine’ and declared he would destroy Belle in court.
Fortunately, Belle got her thoughts together and showed up at court at the last minute, ready to give her evidence. Tonight, that all plays out. Does Tom have any tricks left up his sleeve?

2. The jury give their verdict
The jury gather as Tom finally stands trial for assault and controlling, coercive behaviour.
Former Bad Girls star John Ellis, Corrie and Casualty actor Charles Dale, and Loose Women presenter and Coronation Street star Denise Welch all appear in the episode as members of the jury.
Speaking about her role as Heidi, Denise Welch said: “I’ve been gripped by the Belle and Tom storyline so to play a head juror in the story’s culmination was an honour. My character Heidi was more emotionally involved, so I felt that maybe she had experienced some form of domestic abuse herself.”

Emmerdale tonight saw Belle Dingle disappear on the morning of Tom’s trial, giving him a strong chance of walking away Scott free. Tom was smug, the Dingles were terrified, but then Belle arrived. Was it too late?
Meanwhile, there was some lovey-dovey stuff between Aaron and John, but was it all real?
Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight, Wednesday December 18.
Charity, Chas, Amelia, Jimmy and Nicola did not get good news at court (Credit: ITV)
Belle disappeared in Emmerdale tonight
Very, very early in the morning, Belle wrote a note for her family and left the house. The Dingles realised she’d gone and were worried. Charity admitted she had managed to visit Tom and the family panicked even more. They split up to find Belle and get her to court.
Chas and Charity went to wait there, where Nicola, Jimmy and Amelia turned up. Everyone was freaking out that Tom was going to get away with it, especially when the prosecution said if Belle didn’t turn up it would be harder to get a conviction. Once again: Sigh.
Tom was waiting in court, suited and booted and smug when Ollie broke the news Belle hadn’t turned up. Tom was obviously thrilled – he decided if Belle didn’t take the stand he would ‘destroy her’ in court and he would get his life back.
Meanwhile, Belle was sitting on a bench alone, ignoring all the messages from her family. This might be based on real life, but it is incredibly frustrating.
As the court was called into session, Tom said this was his ‘moment to shine’ – we’ve never heard anyone so deluded!
At the very last moment, Belle arrived. She is ready to tell her story. Thank goodness for that.
Will is losing his grip on his plot (Credit: ITV)
Will’s plan was falling apart (and Billy was still an idiot)
Dawn and Billy were still at loggerheads over their living situation. Billy wants to provide for his family himself and is prepared to look a gift horse in the mouth to remain stubborn. They have 24 hours and three kids to house but Billy is convinced he can sort it. Like he has sorted literally nothing else in their lives.
Meanwhile, Will was arguing with Kim again that it was all too much and he didn’t want Dawn there. Kim was full of the joys of Christmas and brushed him off. Dawn arrived with her bags and boxes, but no Billy and Will immediately jumped on it and said Dawn shouldn’t be moving in without her husband. But Dawn wasn’t budging, she knew Home Farm was the best thing for her family.
Will decided to try Billy instead – and told him he was on his side. But Billy rebuffed his attempts to help, so Will turned to Jai instead – where he found out Kim had made him evict them. Will confronted Kim who desperately tried to make him see why she’d done it. But he accused her of keeping secrets from him.
Will whinged and moaned and complained, but Kim stood her ground and everything is going ahead as planned. He then contacted Peter, but Peter threatened his life and said he needed to stick to the plan because the mystery boss was not to be messed with.
Love was in the air for Aaron and John (Credit: ITV)
Also in Emmerdale tonight…
Aaron and John were packing up after their camping trip and had an in depth conversation about John’s Swiss Army Knife (not a euphemism). They later sat together and talked some more about Aidan and agreed they couldn’t live in the past.
John decided to throw Aidan’s dog tags away to ‘say goodbye’ and move forward. Aaron’s response was to tell John he’s in it ‘for the long run’ and then he finally swallowed his pride and told John he thought he was in love with him. John said it back and there was a touching moment between the guys. But is it real?Â

Over the last few months in Emmerdale, Tom seems to keep finding ways to get himself out of facing consequences.
But hopefully, at long last, it’s finally the end of the evil character who has been tormenting Belle.
While we know the end is in sight, that doesn’t mean Tom didn’t try one last stunt at walking free. And he knows it’s having the effect he wanted thanks to Charity.
Charity visited Tom at the hospital – but it only boosted his ego (Credit: ITV)
Emmerdale: Tom faced Charity
Seeing how conflicted Belle was with Tom’s apparent suicide attempt, Charity decided to do what she does best; get involved.
So she headed to the hospital, and while we’re still unsure as to how she managed to get in, she did. And then it was just Tom and her.
Playing it calm at the beginning, Charity began taunting Tom. She reminded him that when he arrived back in the village, they all forgave him for the past.
Very quickly, Tom tried to paint himself as the victim, reminding Charity that Belle literally stabbed him in the back with an axe.
That’s when things began to change for Charity, and she informed Tom that she doesn’t see him as a victim, but instead a game player.
She then implied that he faked the suicide attempt to get out of court, and that’s when Tom’s mask started to slip.
At the thought of Belle spiralling over his hospital visit, Tom began to sound excited. And that’s when Charity realised she may be making things worse.
But fans couldn’t help but think there was a much easier way for Charity to have proven the whole thing – by recording him.

Fans wish Charity recorded Tom
Taking to the comments of Emmerdale’s official Instagram post, fans spoke about how there could have been peace of mind for Belle if they went down a different route.
One wrote: “I honestly thought Charity was recording Tom during her visit. Would have made a great plot twist if she had.”
Another added: “I hope she recorded the whole conversation!”
A third penned: “Would have all been easier to prove if she had’ve thought to record him. Belle would have believed her then.”
It appears while Charity was smart enough to get herself into the hospital room, she never thought of recording him.
And now, with Tom more convinced than ever that he will be walking away a free man, it’s time for him to put on the performance of a lifetime.

In last night’s episode of Emmerdale (Tuesday, December 17), Belle seemed to yet again be falling for Tom’s lies. And viewers thought she was through with that.
Belle has been living through a horrific ordeal over the last lot of months, as her relationship with Tom got progressively more and more abusive.
But now, it’s time for Tom to stand trial which means we are so close to him leaving our screens. So, when Belle started to fall for his lies and manipulation again this week, viewers were confused and annoyed.
Will the back and forth ever end?

Belle starts to believe Tom’s lies in Emmerdale
It’s a hugely important week in the Belle and Tom storyline, as the evil man finally faces trial for his actions.
But to him, that just means he has to put on a wonderful performance. And so far, he has. Earlier this week, he faked a suicide attempt to mess with Belle’s head, and it has worked.
Last night saw Belle question if she could really go through with testifying against him, as she was adamant she wouldn’t cope if she was responsible for his death.
Despite the Dingles trying to convince her she is not to blame for any of it, and that Tom was faking the whole thing, Belle remained unconvinced.
After all the lies he has told her, many viewers are questioning exactly why Belle would believe a word he says at this point.

Viewers want the storyline to end
Many took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their thoughts on Belle’s concerns.
One wrote: “Belle is bugging me now. She knows what he is like. And he has tricked her into staying by faking a suicide attempt. Just go to court!”
Another added: “People, including me, are getting really annoyed with Belle. She is supposed to be the victim who we all feel for and support. But Emmerdale have managed to turn her into one of the most tedious and frustrating characters in the show.”
A third penned: “The back and forth between Belle and Tom is nauseating. It’s losing its meaning as it has dragged on for way too long.”
“Why are they insistent on making Belle look like a gullible idiot?,” one queried.
Emmerdale bosses have promised the storyline is coming to an end, so as we wait and see how this week goes, we hope Belle turns up to court and puts Tom in his place.

Tom King faces justice as he stands trial for assault and controlling or coercive behaviour in today’s episode of Emmerdale and Denise Welch joins the cast.
A nervous but determined Belle takes the stand to give evidence about what Tom has put her through.
Meanwhile, Tom is cocky and eager to take his chance to stick the knife into his wife.

Jury service
But it’s the jury who take centre stage in the episode as they wrestle with the truth about what happened.
Former Bad Girls star John Ellis, Corrie and Casualty star Charles Dale, and Loose Women presenter and Coronation Street icon Denise Welch all star in the episode as members of the jury.
Denise Welch plays Heidi, a juror convinced of Tom’s guilt from the start, while Charles Dale takes on the role of Karl who’s definitely on Team Tom – at least to begin with.
Kenneth, played by John Ellis, is on the fence as the jury begin to consider their verdict.

Denise Welch joins Emmerdale: ‘An honour to be a part of it’
Former Corrie star Denise said she enjoyed being part of such an “important” episode.
“I’ve been gripped by the Belle and Tom storyline so to play a head juror in the story’s culmination was an honour,” she added.
The special episode features stories taken from real-life instances of domestic abuse, with the help of the charity Refuge.
“My character Heidi was more emotionally involved, so I felt that maybe she had experienced some form of domestic abuse herself,” Denise said.

Campaigning against abuse
The ITV show Loose Women launched a campaign called Facing It Together earlier this year, intending to shine a light on all sorts of abuse including coercive control. “The subject matter is one I’m passionate about,” said Denise.
And she added: “To share the jury scenes with Charlie Dale and Jack Ellis and also to see lots of my Emmerdale mates made it a job to remember.”
But will the jury reach the verdict all the Emmerdale viewers are hoping for? Only time will tell!

In Emmerdale tonight Tom King realised his plot to walk free was working as Belle spiralled at the prospect of him taking his own life. He smugly told his solicitor he was ‘basically a free man’ as Belle questioned whether she could testify. Sigh.
Meanwhile, Aaron and John opened up some more and Billy is a complete idiot who is boring us to tears.
Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale tonight, Tuesday December 17.

Belle spiralled after Tom’s stunt in Emmerdale tonight
Vinny and Charity were still on their anti-Tom bandwagon, with Charity firmly believing Tom has faked his suicide attempt. But Belle completely believes Tom really did try to take his own life. She feels sorry for him for goodness sakes. She was questioning whether she can stand up and face him in court because she can’t have his death on her conscience.
Belle went to see Paddy who tried to help Belle see this was not her fault. But he also told her he didn’t know whether Tom had meant it or not, he could not offer her the reassurance she needed.
Meanwhile, Charity got herself into Tom’s room and saw he was bright-eyed and bushy tailed. She knew she was right about him faking the whole thing.
Finally Charity got to say what she wanted to. Tom fought back, slimy and manipulative. But Charity told him he wasn’t a victim. However all her harsh words only made Tom realise Belle believed he had done it and she was spiralling. He was smug as Charity stormed out having made a massive mistake.
Tom was smarmy and joyful as he told Ollie he was going to stand trial and now that Belle is out of the equation he’s ‘basically a free man’.
More bad news came for Belle when the judge agreed her past with Gemma can be disclosed in court. Charity tried to tell her she had to testify, but Belle was still convinced his mental health crisis was real.
Seriously, she’s spent so long waiting for justice and now Emmerdale are sending her down this route. He is manipulating her again, and might win again. This storyline is getting exhausting.

John opened up to Aaron in Emmerdale tonight
On the camping trip, Aaron and John woke up full of love, but when Aaron found Aidan Moore’s dog tags, John clammed up and refused to answer the questions.
Aaron wouldn’t let it go though and wanted to know who Aidan is. John wasn’t too keen on opening up, just saying today would have been Aidan’s birthday. There is definitely more to this than meets the eye and it’s about time Emmerdale told us.
John did confess he and Aidan were more than friends and he was the first person he felt anything for. He seemed to open up about everything, but is he being completely honest here?
Also in Emmerdale tonight…
Billy was an idiot
Billy and Dawn were having bangers and mash for tea tonight, but their excitement was dampened by bad news: Jai gave them a week’s notice on Holdgate. Dawn was grateful they had a back-up plan and could move back into Home Farm, but stubborn Billy refused to budge and won’t go. Get a grip, Billy.
Turned out he still hasn’t got one because before too long he had Jai in a head lock demanding a month’s rent back. Dawn told Billy they were moving back in with Kim and his pigheaded pride saw him tell his wife he wouldn’t be coming with her and his children.
There’s so many infuriating characters in Emmerdale at the moment, but right now Billy is very near the top of that list.

Brenda got the wrong end of the stick
Arriving with some leftovers for Pollard, Brenda heard him and Kerry shouting and moaning upstairs. Mortified, Brenda literally ran away from the house before confronting them later on. But they explained they were merely cleaning and Kerry had moved in as payment.

With Tom going to extremes to prevent his trial from taking place, Emmerdale fans have begged for justice to be served.
Last night (Monday, December 16), a code red was called at the prison as news spread that Tom had attempted to take his own life.
But, the whole thing was just another one of Tom’s lies – and quite frankly, fans have had enough.

Tom fake attempt leaves Emmerdale fans furious
With his court date fast approaching, Tom made one last attempt to get out his trial by faking a suicide attempt last night.
After a code red was called in the prison, Tom was taken to hospital where he was told that his wounds were fortunately superficial.
Belle, Jimmy and Amelia all found out the news and couldn’t help but cast their minds back to the last time Tom had tried to do something similar. Notice a pattern here?
Sam seemed to be the only one who could see through Tom’s lies though, knowing that he was up to no good.
Back at the hospital, Ollie visited Tom after got confirmation that Tom’s suicide attempt was all an act in a bid to stop Belle from turning up to court. He reckoned things could go his way if he could make Belle feel guilty for his situation.
And now, after Tom hit yet another low, fans are desperate for justice to be served ASAP.
One fan commented: “He winds me up. Surely this storyline should come to an end soon, lock him up and have done.”
Another person added: “Just hurry up and finish this story line. It’s dragging on too long.”
A third viewer agreed: “Please put us out of our agony, had enough of this story.”

When will the Tom storyline end?
Tom’s abuse storyline is set to come to an end this month as he finally gets his comeuppance (about time!)
There’s no worming out of this one as the net closes in on him. Court scenes are due to air this week. Tom puts on a show as he reckons he’s won the jury over.
With Belle a no show, the Dingles desperately search for Belle so that there’s more chance of a conviction. But, what will the verdict be? Here’s hoping to Tom’s final scenes being him locked up in a cell!

Emmerdale spoilers: Charity visits Tom in hospital (Credit: ITV)
1. Belle is terrified
Last night saw a code red in prison, with Tom getting rushed to hospital after he attempted to take his life. But of course, it was all just another one of his manipulation strategies to come out on top.
But for Belle, she doesn’t know this. And the thought of potentially being the reason that someone took their own life is too much for her.
While the Dingles all try their hardest to support her in any way they can, she begins to question if she is capable of standing up in court. So in her time of need she turns to Paddy for some words of wisdom.
However, will she walk away from their conversation with a new found courage? Or is she going to be questioning herself even more?
2. Charity takes things into her hands
The Dingles always rally around their own in time of need, and Charity isn’t going to sit back and watch Belle fall apart over something that isn’t true.
So when she realises Tom faked his suicide attempt, she manages to get access to his hospital room – of course she does, she’s Charity Dingle.
At first Tom is taken aback to see her there, but when she tries to get him to admit he faked the whole thing to affect his court day, Tom realises she’s only there because Belle must be questioning everything.
Charity leaves the hospital fearing she has made the situation worse. And when Tom tells Ollie that Belle will no longer testify, is he right?
3. Billy refuses to go to Home Farm
Jai blindsides Billy and Dawn, asking them to move out of Holdgate by the end of the week. Of course the pair weren’t expecting that, but Dawn believes heading back to Home Farm would be the best thing they could do.
However, this doesn’t go down well with Billy, as he completely refuses to go back there, even with the bleak situation they are in.
With Dawn getting more and more frustrated, what will they do?
John decides to tell Aaron about Aidan Moore (Credit: ITV)
Emmerdale spoilers 4. John opens up
Aaron has been blindsided by an unwanted camping trip with John. And last night’s episode (December 16) saw Aaron open up to him about Gordon.
Then came a pity party as Jimmy and Amelia started to feel guilty over how they had treated Tom. “‘I hope you rot,’ that’s the last thing I said to him,” Jimmy said, while Amelia said: “All that hate and I call myself a Christian.”
Sam was having none of it though, and reminded them what Tom had done. He insisted that this changed nothing. Amelia continued to defend Tom, asking: “But how low must he have felt to want to end his life?â€
Belle also felt guilty, believing she should have seen it coming as Tom had done it before. Belle said she thought it had been an act before. In a weird parallel universe, Sam appeared to be the only one with a brain and told Belle that Tom was just messing with her head again.
Amelia jumped in to say: “He could have died, Sam. No one is that sick.†That’s what you think, Amelia…
Later, Sam told Charity about the situation and said: “Could have throttled Jimmy and Amelia. I’m meant to be the thick one, but even I could see what he’s doing.â€Â
Charity told Belle not to let Tom get inside her head again, but it seemed like it might be too late for that…
Tom was rushed to hospital (Credit: ITV)
Tom continued to be manipulative
In hospital, the doctor told Tom there will be no permanent damage and shared that a psychological assessment had been arranged.
Tom was angry when told that his next of kin had been informed. He acted embarrassed as he said: “Great, now everyone knows what I have done.†But once he was alone, he laughed. Perhaps a psychological assessment isn’t such a bad idea…
Later on, Tom’s solicitor pal Ollie asked Tom, “So this was your other way out?†Tom responded: “Desperate times call for desperate measures.â€
Ollie pointed out that Tom’s knowledge of anatomy might have come in useful here. Tom said: “Well maybe if I was a dog or a rat.†If the cap fits, Tom.
Ollie told Tom he will be assessed and a psychologist will decide if he is fit to stand trial. This was music to Tom’s ears, who realised that the trial might not go ahead if he is a suicide risk. Ollie was sure that had been Tom’s plan all along. “What are you suggesting Ollie? That I did all this to somehow manipulate the system?,†asked Tom. Well, yes.
But Tom’s plan was a bit more complex than that. As Belle was shown sitting alone and looking contemplative, Tom’s voice was heard saying: “Of course, there is a chance that something like this might make Belle reconsider her actions. It would be hard for her to testify. Repeating all the vicious lies, knowing how far it’s pushed me. Something like this, it could really put things into perspective.â€
Dawn was touched by Kim’s proposal (Credit: ITV)
Kim asked Dawn to move back in
Will told Kim that the renewal should just be about the two of them. “Do we even need guests?,†he said. Erm, well, yes, probably.
At the hospital, Dawn told Kim that Ewan was doing well and should be home for Christmas. This news made Kim have second thoughts about the vow renewal on Christmas Day. “Christmas is a time for children, we’ll cancel,” she told Dawn.
Dawn was having none of it though and said they needed the vow renewal to bring them back together and “bond us as a family.†So much for no guests.
Kim also suggested that Dawn, Billy and the kids move back to Home Farm. However, while Dawn was pleased, this news went down like a lead balloon with Billy, who said Home Farm was cursed. He probably has a point to be fair.
John arranged for he and Aaron to take a camping trip – but Aaron couldn’t have been less enthusiastic if he tried. To be fair to him, it is the middle of winter.
But when he realised how important it was to John, he agreed to go along. However, while in the forest, Aaron revealed to John that the only time he had ever done anything like that was with Gordon – his father, who abused him.
John apologised and said they could pack up and go home, but Aaron decided to stay. After Aaron went to the van to get some beers, John pulled out the infamous dog tag chain, with the name Aidan Moore on. John stroked the name, while looking deep in thought.
Eric was short with Jimmy in the shop. The exchange was witnessed by Kerry, who told Eric he wasn’t really angry with Jimmy. “You’re angry with yourself,” she said. “When in fact, the only thing that you should be angry with is that scuzzy crypto con.†Eric wasted no time in chucking her out.
Later, Kerry tried to make amends with Eric. Upon seeing the mess at Eric’s place, she offered to clean for him. In a sexist moment, Eric revealed that Brenda had previously done all of the ‘women’s work.’ Nice.
