Emmerdale tonight: John’s van is missing, Mandy’s findom is paying off and Noah is upset over Esther

Emmerdale tonight saw John Sugden left furious after discovering his van had been stolen. It didn’t take him long to figure out who was behind the stunt, having already made an enemy of Mackenzie during his brief time in the village.

Elsewhere, Mandy’s findomination work started to pay off and Noah was left devastated when Amelia insisted they need to cut all ties with one another.

Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale on Monday August 12.

    John’s van was stolen

Arriving at the garage in the morning, John was left furious as his van was nowhere to be seen. He approached Sarah and demanded she tell him where his van was, but Sarah had no idea. She suggested ringing the police, but John was not keen on the idea and insisted he could figure out who the thief was himself.

John soon came to the conclusion that Aaron had stolen his van and headed out trying to find him. At the cafe, John angrily confronted Mack and Aaron, with the pair eventually agreeing to take him to find his van. John lost his cool after he found his van in a lake, with Aaron and Mack continuing to taunt him and make jokes.

In the Woolpack, Victoria told Mack and Aaron that the van was actually John’s home, leaving the duo feeling very guilty. John later found Aaron alone and convinced him he’s still interested in him. When Aaron tried to go in for a kiss, John pulled away, leaving Aaron humiliated. Super awks…

Mandy gets hen do ready – and continues with her findom work in Emmerdale tonight

Tracy arrived at the salon to find Mandy mid-phone call, leading her to presume she was with a findom client. However, Mandy revealed she was actually chatting to a credit card company as she continues trying to settle her debts. Mandy happily told Tracy how she’d managed to clear one of her smaller credit card bills thanks to her new venture. Tracy was still concerned about Mandy taking on findomination work, despite Mandy reassuring her she had taken safety measures to mask her identity.

Later, Amelia headed to the salon to gift Mandy a karaoke set. She revealed she’d been busy planning Mandy a surprise hen do ahead of her wedding to Paddy. Mandy’s next client then called, prompting her to cancel Amelia’s shift at the salon and tell her to leave.

Paddy headed round to the salon to check on Mandy and after snooping on her laptop, he found out she’d booked a romantic boat trip in Venice for their honeymoon (nice for some!) The pair shared a special moment as they celebrated their upcoming nuptials.

    Noah was left devastated

Chas gave Noah some advice in the Woolpack, telling him to speak to Amelia about being a part of Esther’s life going forward. Despite being unsure, Noah later sat down for a chat with Amelia.

Amelia told Noah that she didn’t think it would be a good idea if he is still a part of Esther’s life. She insisted they need to end things for good. Noah then broke down as Amelia left.

    Also in Emmerdale tonight…

Jimmy and Nicola received a call to confirm the date of Angelica’s day release, leaving them delighted. Nicola then vowed to help Jimmy with his problems at the haulage yard. She then insisted Will should be doing more to help.

Jimmy later headed round to see Will and tell him the bad news about the contract. After a few tense words, Jimmy and Will ended up confiding in one another. Jimmy revealed he can’t stop thinking about Angel and confessed his worries about her being released. Will and Jimmy then spoke about their business and vowed to try everything to make it work going forward. Will they make a good team?

Amy Walsh cast in new film alongside real-life EastEnders star husband Toby-Alexander Smith

Emmerdale star Amy Walsh is set to front a new film alongside her husband – EastEnders star Toby-Alexander Smith. Toby has also written the film himself.

The casting news was announced earlier this week as Toby revealed what he has been up to lately. He was also asking for help funding the project, which is called Calm. It tells the story of a first-time dad struggling when he feels a disconnection from his son.

Emmerdale star Amy Walsh cast alongside husband in new film

Taking to social media, Toby shared the news alongside Amy: “CAST ANNOUNCEMENT: One of the perks of writing your own film is you get to choose who you work with. I chose this incredible actress…who just happens to be my wife. Me and Amy Walsh will playing opposite each other in the roles of Sam and Jess.

“Amy was involved in an incredibly impactful postnatal depression storyline in Emmerdale in 2021 which received huge praise from ITV viewers.”

He then shared that the independent movie is a kickstarter and needs help funding it. They have 28 days to reach their target.

Fans and friends were really excited. Toby’s former EastEnders co-star Shona McGarty (Whitney Dean) sent clapping emojis and wrote “fantastic”.

Other fans declared they couldn’t wait to watch it. Meanwhile someone else said: “You and Amy are both such great actors.”

Is Amy Walsh leaving Emmerdale as Tracy Robinson?

Amy has not confirmed she is leaving the soap as Tracy and it is thought this will just be a side-project. Emmerdale Insider has contacted reps for comment.

However things aren’t going well for Tracy at the moment. After the breakdown of her marriage to Nate Robinson following her affair with Caleb Miligan, Tracy also lost her dreams of opening her own forest nursery.

Left with nothing, Tracy is down on her luck. She is working in Pollard’s shop and thinking the world owes her a favour. She’s now gone to war with Ella Forster over the receptionist job at the vet surgery. Taking her frustrations out on Ella, Tracy is making no friends at all.

In fact, fans have had enough of her. “Why is Tracy [Bleep] back?” queried one, adding: “She is just another person who adds nothing to this programme…plus her voice sets my teeth on edge.”

“Oh go away Tracy…this from a woman who can’t keep her underwear on and cheated on boring Nate after a few months of marriage,” shared another.

A third queried: “What purpose do Vanessa and Tracy serve? They don’t care about Frank’s death and just are two boring judgemental hypocrites.”

So with Tracy not popular amongst viewers, maybe Amy taking a break from the character could be a good thing!

Review of the week: Kim betrayed, Samson grows a backbone, and Tracy’s got a LOT to say

Emmerdale this week has been an easy one to review because it’s been all about people making some very questionable decisions!

Kim’s been dropped right in it by the people who are supposed to have her back, Samson’s finally done the right thing, but at what cost, and Tracy’s not exactly happy to see Ella.

Here’s our review of the week in Emmerdale.

Kim Tate in a blue dress poses smugly by a car
We loved the flash of the old Kim we saw this week (Credit: ITV)

Kim betrayed in our Emmerdale review!

Since she arrived in the village, Rose has been on a mission to split Kim and Will up. She’s working on behalf of vengeful Ruby. We have no idea how Ruby and Rose ever crossed paths, how Ruby even knew who Rose was, or why Ruby’s so bothered about Kim when it seems Caleb’s not fussed now.

But that’s beside the point. This week, Rose put her plan to make Kim think she’d seduced Will into action, when she was given drugs to drop into his drink. Except, the plan went a bit awry as Dawn and Kim arrived just as Rose was pouring the drinks, Will got the glasses muddled up and it was Dawn who ended taking the drugged drink.

She crashed her car on the way to hospital but luckily wasn’t hurt. But she immediately decided it had to have been Kim who spiked her drink.

We’re not completely sure how she came to that conclusion because as far as we could see, Kim was nowhere near the bottle when it was opened and poured. But Dawn pointed the finger, Rose went with it and even paid the drug dealer to come and demand cash from a bewildered Kim as evidence. Now everyone thinks Kim’s guilty and she’s moved out.

    Frustration!

It’s all a bit frustrating to be honest, except for one thing. When Kim arrived at the B&B and mentioned Will paying for his betrayal, we saw a glint of something in her eye that we liked! We spotted a flash of the old Kim Tate. Remember her? The one who left a man to die and who wouldn’t let a loser like Rose walk all over her.

So we’re not totally on board with this badly plotted, confusing Ruby/Rose revenge story. But if it brings back the legend that is Kim Tate, then we’re giving it a big thumbs up!

Emmerdale review. Samson and Josh share a charged interaction
Is Josh really that scary? (Credit: ITV)

Samson did the right thing – finally!

While we’re on the subject of things not making a whole lot of sense in this Emmerdale review, here’s something else confusing.

Samson’s determination to leave his sort-of-cousin Matty behind bars in case he upset his new friend of six weeks, Josh, had been making us scratch our heads.

Except this week Samson casually mentioned that Josh has scary brothers (erm, Samson – you’ve got an entire scary family, babe). We’re not sure if these scary brothers are the ones Dr Liam saw off by himself outside the pub? If so, we reckon Samson’s going to be just fine.

Anyway, thank goodness, the young Dingle has finally seen sense and admitted what happened when Matty was stabbed. That means Matty’s out of jail and it looks like Samson’s going to be banged up himself. But will Josh and his – ahem – terrifying band of brothers also face justice? We hope so!

Emmerdale review. Tracy Robinson [AMY WALSH] continues to berate Ella [PAULA LANE] about her suitability for the receptionist role.
Tracy’s got real beef with Ella (Credit: ITV)

Tracy got a bee in her bonnet

Ella’s back in Emmerdale and frankly we’re delighted! We love Paula Lane. And we quite like the idea of a child killer living quietly in the village with everyone waiting on tenterhooks to see what she might do next. (Though it would probably be more dramatic if Emmerdale wasn’t already home to not one, not two, but THREE murderers who’d killed before they’d done their GCSEs).

Anyway, pleased as we are to see Ella back, we’re a bit bewildered by Tracy Robinson‘s reaction. She’s got a right bee in her bonnet about the one-time killer being welcomed into the village. Plus she’s upset about Ella stealing the vet receptionist job from under Tracy’s nose! Which would all be totally understandable were it not for the fact that Kerry Wyatt and her daughter Amy KILLED Tracy and Vanessa’s dad, Frank.

They were completely, unquestionably responsible for the factory fire that led to Frank’s death. They have Frank’s blood on their mucky hands. And yet, Tracy seems totally fine with that. She’s not fussed about those killers wandering round the village. (Actually, now we’re thinking about it, there are a LOT of murderers in Emmerdale. It’s quite a dangerous place to hang out). Maybe someone needs to remind her what the Wyatts did?

After they break the news to the kids, Laurel [CHARLOTTE BELLAMY] asks Jai Sharma [CHRIS BISSON] to leave and move back into Holdgate
Laurel’s way too good for Jai (Credit: ITV)

    Hooray for Laurel!

Lauren can often seem like a bit of a wet blanket. We know though, that behind her sweet exterior is something different. She has a rock-hard, steely determination that saw her nurse Ashley through his dementia, and beat her alcoholism. And this week, she finally realised just how awful her deadbeat husband Jai is – and turfed him out! YAY, Laurel!

David’s shop in Emmerdale: The full history of all the owners from Natasha Wylde to David Metcalfe

David’s shop is the place to go in Emmerdale if you need a pint of milk or loaf of bread. Think of it like a convenience store, but packed full of artisan goodies and with its own personalised jute bags.

A valued local business, it’s situated on Church Lane and attached to Farrers Farm.

It was given the eponymous title from former owner, David Metcalfe, who was in charge from 2015 until his departure from the Dales in 2023.

Many of the village residents have worked behind the till of the shop, and it’s seen its fair amount of action over the years.

The history of David’s shop in Emmerdale

Back before it was a shop, the building was actually a barn. From here, Rodney Blackstock used to run his antiques business.

But that all changed when the wealthy Wylde family arrived in the village and set up residence in Home Farm.

A truck crashes into Wyldes Home Farm Fayre

    Wyldes Home Farm Fayre

Keen to make her mark, Natasha Wylde decided to open a shop in the centre of the community, providing customers with wholesome, local produce.

The clan purchased the barn, converting it into a shop and living area and giving it the name Wyldes Home Farm Fayre (don’t even get us started on the missing apostrophe!)

Doug Potts and Leyla Harding were employed as co-managers, while Rodney was given the job of delivery driver.

The shop had only been open a matter of days when Rodney left the handbrake off his van. The vehicle crashed into the shop, trapping Doug, Leyla and Ryan Lamb inside.

But as money was no problem for the Wyldes, they just fixed the damage and reponed within days.

    Leyla’s

In 2011, co-manager Leyla became the new owner of the farm shop and renamed it Leyla’s.

She bought the business with her boyfriend David Metcalfe, but their partnership – professional and romantic – wasn’t to go the distance.

The couple split the same year and Leyla sold her share to David.

    David’s shop in Emmerdale

After Leyla dumped him and the Dales, David took full control of the store. Following in his predecessor’s unimaginative footsteps, David named the shop after himself!

And there he remained until June 2015 when David decided to emigrate to Portugal with then-wife Alicia Gallagher.

He sold the business to Bob Hope’s daughter, Carly, a move which turned out to be very unwise…

Carly Hope stands in the flooded shop looking horrified in Emmerdale
Carly was not the right person for the job (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock)

    Carly Hope takes over

Carly’s reign over the shop was nothing short of shambolic.

She renamed the business Hope for the Best, which should have been an indication to expect the worst. Carly had absolutely zero interest in running the business and even turned up to its unveiling drunk.

And when a burst pipe wrecked all the shop’s merchandise, Carly confessed she hadn’t taken out any insurance. To cover the costs, she and local bad boy Ross Barton robbed a truck to get cash for the repairs.

Carly was eventually forced to confess everything and Brenda Walker reported her to the police.

Wanted for fraud, Carly went on the run, leaving the shop empty.

David’s return to his shop in Emmerdale

David returned and reclaimed his shop at a reduced price when it went under the hammer.

He gave the place a makeover, with a fancy deli bar, and even gave Carly a job so she could repay him.

2021 saw the arrival of the shop’s new delivery bike, which was brought in as part of a drive to be more eco-friendly.

David also brought in his stepson Jacob Gallagher and Kerry Wyatt to run things during his breaks away from the village.

    Pollard takes over

In 2022, David ran into severe financial difficulty at the shop. His then-girlfriend Victoria Sugden sold off the land she had inherited from her grandmother, Annie, to bail him out.

However David just kept spending and got into even more trouble when he decided to start doing deliveries and then got a speeding ticket that would have lost him his licence.

In a bid to cover his tracks he put the ticket in Victoria’s name. When she found out she was fuming. They broke up, and David was forced to take his punishment.

Still in debt, David was eventually bailed out by his dad. Eric Pollard, who had sold the B&B to retire with Brenda and travel the world, bought David out.

Then David left town for good and Eric is saddled with running a shop he never really wanted. Tracy currently manages the place, with Jacob helping out too.

    Shop wars

Leyla Harding was caught with her fingers in the till when she stole £250 to buy a pair of fancy shoes she’d had her eye on.

Nathan Wylde blackmailed her over the theft, but got his comeuppance when David discovered what he was up to.

And in 2015, David’s grand re-opening had to be pushed back when his dad Eric Pollard trashed the shop in a grief-induced rage, the damage of which took weeks to put right.

Pollard also found himself caught up in an armed robbery when two youths tried to raid David’s and ended up with a broken arm.

    Births, marriages and deaths

Unsurprisingly no marriages have taken place the shop, but there have been a couple of baby dramas and near fatalities.

Nicola King went into labour with daughter Angelica while locked inside the shop, but thankfully made it to hospital in time to give birth.

And history repeated itself in 2014 when David’s ex-girlfriend Priya Sharma’s waters broke in front of his wife, Alicia.

Tracy Robinson: Marriages, affairs and crippling postnatal depression

Tracy Robinson (nee Shankley) in Emmerdale has been causing trouble in the village for almost a decade.

Estranged from second husband Nate Robinson she is desperate to pursue her dream of opening a forest nursery. But will she ever manage it?

    Tracy in Emmerdale smiles

Who is Tracy Robinson in Emmerdale?

She is the daughter of the late Frank Clayton and Evette Shankley, the latter of whom has never been seen on-screen.

Tracy’s parents split when she was a young girl. She lost contact with Frank and Evette turned to alcohol in order to cope. Tracy is also the half-sister of vet Vanessa Woodfield.

The siblings are former housemates and didn’t discover they were related until 2016, nearly two years after their first meeting.

A former prostitute and thief, Tracy’s upbringing was far from a happy one, although she no longer engages in criminal activities.

Tracy has also been married twice. Her 2016 union with David Metcalfe ended in divorce two years later. She’s estranged from husband Nate Robinson after cheating on him with his uncle, Caleb Miligan.

The love of Tracy’s life is her young daughter, Frankie, who she welcomed in February 2021 and named in honour of her late father.

    Tracy’s arrival

Wild child Tracy made her on-screen debut on July 7, 2014 and was first introduced as a love interest of Sam Dingle, who she’d met via an online chat group.

Going by the name Coleen, Tracy cruelly scammed Sam out of money. He later found her sleeping rough and invited her to stay at the Dingles’ while she found her feet again.

Tracy then moved into the B&B to live with Eric and Val Pollard, but proved old habits die hard when she was caught with her fingers in Val’s purse.

    Her love life

Tracy began dating shop owner David Metcalfe, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer shortly into their relationship. She supported him through his illness and the couple got hitched in 2016 after David was given the all clear.

Their marriage only lasted a couple of years, after Tracy’s past as a prostitute was exposed when she got a stalker. Davis was unable to cope with who she had been and had a one-night stand with ex, Leyla. But Tracy and David hooked up for one last night together, which resulted in her falling pregnant. Feeling unable to keep the baby, Tracy had a termination.

Her next relationship was with Nate Robinson, but what started out as just a no-strings fling turned serious when Tracy learnt she was expecting.

In early 2021 she gave birth to a little girl called Frankie. After overcoming a few obstacles, Tracy and Nate finally made it official and married in July 2023.

    Tracy’s postnatal depression

Motherhood hasn’t been the easiest ride for Tracy.

Just days after Frankie’s birth, Tracy found herself overwhelmed and unable to cope looking after her new baby. She battled with postnatal depression in silence for months, and came very close to taking her own life.

Thankfully, Tracy recognised she needed help and committed herself to a psychiatric ward, leaving Frankie in Nate’s care.

She returned to the village a few months later, but was heartbroken to discover Nate had been unfaithful in her absence.

Nate’s betrayal resulted in Tracy relocating to Nottingham, which coincided with actress Amy Walsh’s maternity leave.

    Affair with Caleb Miligan

With the ink barely dry on her marriage certificate to Nate, Tracy shocked viewers by embarking on a forbidden affair with his uncle, Caleb Miligan.

Despite her best efforts, Tracy was unable to resist the charms of the smooth-talking businessman. The lustful duo took major risks by engaging in passionate trysts across the village, but ended up getting caught in the act by Moira Dingle.

She ordered Tracy and Caleb to end their affair, which they did, only to resume it weeks later.

Tracy eventually decided she didn’t love Nate any more and ended their marriage. He found out she had been bedding Caleb when Caleb’s wife Ruby announced it at Belle and Tom’s wedding reception.

Caleb decided to make a go of things with Ruby, leaving Tracy out in the cold and all alone. She threw herself into her forest nursery idea, but determined to get him to prove his loyalty, Ruby made Caleb sabotage her presentation to potential investors. He exposed her prostitute past and it left her dream in tatters.

She now works in Eric’s shop, desperately trying to salvage her future.

    Who plays Tracy Robinson?

Emmerdale’s Tracy Robinson is played by British actress Amy Walsh. She was born on 27 March 1987 and raised in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Amy is the youngest of four children, and her sister Kimberley Walsh is a member of the iconic girl group Girls Aloud.

Her other sister, Sally Walsh, also had a role in Emmerdale and played the character of Lyn Hutchinson between 1997 and 2000.

Amy’s first television appearance was as Jennifique McQueen in series four of the Hollyoaks spin-off, Hollyoaks Later.

Interestingly, Tracy wasn’t the first Emmerdale character Amy tried out for. She previously auditioned for the part of Rachel Breckle, which went to actress Gemma Oaten.

In August 2023, Amy married former EastEnders actor Toby-Alexander Smith in the foothills of Montenegro’s towering mountains.

The couple met in the audience of Strictly Come Dancing back in 2019, and moved in together when the Covid pandemic hit.

They are parents to their daughter, Bonnie Mae, who they welcomed in December 2021.
